PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MASHPFE ' OWN HALL <br /> MEETING OF MARCH , 1984, <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present : <br /> Caroline 'M. Gilligan , David L. Hardy -and Carrie Saunders . <br /> Ao 'ing Chairperson Gilligan convened the meeting at 6 : 05 p .m . <br /> Minutes of February 13 and February <br /> Dave Hardy motioned to accept the minutes of February 13 and <br /> February 6 as written . Carrie Saunders seconded the motion . <br /> All present were in favor , <br /> Memo from mCouncil�on Aging <br /> The Board reviewed a memo�dated February 27 from the members of <br /> the Council on Aging clarifying that it is not their intent to <br /> removed Larry Frazier from his job as Senior- Citizens Director . <br /> They also stated that his performance has improved greatly since <br /> his evaluation and11--that he seems to hair more interest and pride <br /> in his work . The Board noted that the memo did not give details <br /> of what was discussed with Mr . Frazier . A memo will be sent to <br /> the Council on Aging requesting them to follow through in submit- <br /> ting a written letter for the files outlining specific details of <br /> the disouinf <br /> Request for. Board Secreta ry <br /> In a memo dated ' March. 2 from the Board of Health Clerk , Charles <br /> Buckingham ,, a request is made for ars experienced secretary to cover <br /> Board of Health meetings while he is on vacation from March 1 <br /> through April 15 . The Board .approved filling the position with a <br /> candidate from the secretarial pool . Carrie recommended that Carol <br /> Lopez be contacted recalling that Mrs . Lope'z was a recent applicant <br /> to go through the testing process . <br /> Educational. Courses <br /> The Board reviewed reques1z for prior- approval to take courses in <br /> "Fire Department Management and Planning " . :at the Cape Cod Community <br /> College during the period' - Febr�'uar r.,7 through May 1 from Robert <br /> Long and Paul Frazier . The decision on approving these courses was <br /> upheld until clarification is received from the Executive Secretary <br /> as to what education money is available if appropriation is exceeded . <br /> Retro-Active Pay <br /> A request from the Town Accountant was reviewed asking to be advised <br /> of the Personnel Board ' s policy concerning payment of retro-active <br /> pay increases to employees who have separated employment from the <br /> Town . The secretary advised that Board that a decision concerning <br /> payment to temporary employees and seasonal employees should also be <br /> made . The Board was in agreement to seep a legal opinion on the <br /> above . <br />
