Personnel Board Meeting <br /> Minutes of December 13, 1985 Page <br /> In-House Train * <br /> The Board reviewed the M.M.A. s recommendation that the town consider <br /> sponsoring some professional development training programs for manage- <br /> ment employees. There was a considerable employee interest in this <br /> idea. The Board agreed that professional development training programs <br /> would be well worth the investment. An article will be submitted to <br /> town meeting appropriating $1 ,000 for this expenditure. <br /> Dental Insurance <br /> Upon reviewing the interest of employees in a torn-paid dental insurance <br /> program and the fact that State law requires that this benefit be of- <br /> fered to all town and school employees if it is offered to any employees , <br /> the Board voted to recommend to the Board of selectmen that this be con- <br /> sidered when negotiating future union contracts as a means of bargaining. <br /> Other <br /> In addition to the benefits reviewed above, the M.M. * also considered <br /> Pre-Retirement Counseling, Disability Insurance, a flexible benefits <br /> package, flexible work hours , child care , an annual physical paid for <br /> by the town and an employee fitness program. The Board requested the <br /> secretary to do a review with other towns to see if any of the move <br /> are offered in their town, <br /> Shellfish Constable <br /> 'Iowa Meeting voted the Shellfish Constable at a. Grade 10, At the re- <br /> quest of the Personnel Board and the Executive Secretary, Bob Maxim <br /> amended the article on placing a Shellfish Constable at a Grade 13 of <br /> the new salary schedule, Appendix A of the P.A.P. Mr. Maxim was ad- <br /> vised that the Personnel Board has the power to be flexible in hiring <br /> at a salary within the salary range of the grade of the position. The <br /> Board gave approval to advertise using the salary range of this position..­ <br /> Chairman Sullivan suggested that an article be prepared for annual town <br /> meeting to budget money to pay the Asst. Harbor Masters the same as the <br /> Assistant Shellfish Wardens. <br /> Asst. Bld Ins ector & Bld . Inspector Job Descriptions <br /> Board members received copies of updated job descriptions approved by <br /> the Board of Selectmen for the Assistant Building Inspector and Build- <br /> ing Inspector positions, A request to advertise the position of Assis- <br /> tant Building Inspector was made by the Bd. of Selectmen. The Board <br /> approved the advertising and asked the secretary to schedule the closing <br /> date of the ad during the latter part of January due to the holiday <br /> season. <br /> Board of Health Positions <br /> The Boar requested that a memo be sent to the Board of Health Chairman <br /> asking for clarification on where his Board stands on the inclusion of <br /> the Health Agent position and Assistant Health Agent position in the <br /> P.A.P. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 5 : 35 p.m. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Marilyn Farren, Secretary <br /> Personnel Board <br /> mf <br />
