PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MEETING OF APRIL 8. 1985 <br /> MA HPEE TOWN HALL <br /> The following members of the Personnel Board were present for tonight's meeting: <br /> Caroline Gilligan, Manuel Glickman, Carrie Saunders and Ben Lofchie. <br /> Acting Chairman Gilligan convened the meeting at p.m. <br /> Personnel Minutes - 1 <br /> Manny lick an moved to accept the Personnel Board's minutes of March 18. <br /> Ben Lofchie seconded. All present voted in favor. <br /> Discussion on Dire of Asst. Bldg. Insp. <br /> The Executive Secretary, Zoe Murphy, met with the Personnel Board to advise <br /> them that the Board of Selectmen would be meeting tomorrow to discuss the ap- <br /> pointment of an Assistant Building Inspector. Discussion continued on the <br /> events that had taken place sixnce the resignation of the Building Inspector, <br /> Mr. Collins, with Personnel Board members expressing their view on the proper <br /> hiring procedure. Bei, Lofchie moved that a memo be sent to the Board of Select- <br /> men stating that the Personnel Board would like to go on record as not approving <br /> the method of hire of the Assistant Building Inspector~. Manuel Glickman seconded. <br /> All present were in favor. _ <br /> The Board asked Joe Murphy to consider- only making -the appointment for one year. <br /> Joe told the Board that he would convey- all sentiments of the- Personnel Board to <br /> the Board of Selectmen. Ben Lofchie indicated that he would plan to attend the <br /> Board of Selec' tmen's meeting scheduled for tomorrow morning. <br /> Request for Personnel. Records <br /> The Board reviewed a request from Glen Rogers, recently terminated as Police <br /> Dispatcher, for a copy of his complete personnel jacket. The Board approved and <br /> asked the secretary to follow through. <br /> Results of Sergeant Recommendations <br /> The Board reviewed a memo from the Board of Selectmen stating that neither finalist <br /> for the sergeant position would be appointed at this time based on Chief Frye's <br /> recommendations. Personnel Board members expressed concern over this since the <br /> Chief had not indicated that he was not going to recommend either finalist. The <br /> secretary indicated that the Chief stated he would be willing to discuss his <br /> reasons with the Board. The Board asked that the Chief be scheduled to talk to <br /> them at a future meeting. <br /> ` Appointment with Director of Public works <br /> Ernie Virgilio, who asked to met with the Board to discuss proposed highway depart- <br /> ment changes, failed to keep his appointment with the Board. Carrie Saunders ex- <br /> pressed disappointment of Mr. Virgilio not keeping two appointments with the Board. <br /> Ben Lofchie agreed. <br />
