The
neighbors are outraged by the incidents that have occurred on the lake this year and during the past few years.
Ms. Dangle indicated there has been a wanton disregard for the rules on the lake. Although the Harbormaster's
boat is moored on Mashpee-Wakeby, the boat has only been seen twice on patrol during the recent holiday.
There is no patrolling if the boat is moored and this is a clear sign there is little policing of the waters. Ms.
Dangle stated that on Friday afternoons and on the weekends, it is a free for all, and more patrolling would be
appreciated.
A resident of 750 Cotuit Road also related concern with regards to the lack of patrolling on Mashpee-Wakeby.
It was suggested a larger presence of enforcement as well as boat inspections on shore may alleviate the
types of boating incidents that have been occurring.
David Sampson of 14 Cove Road, Sandwich stated the action brought forth by the Town Management was
worthwhile and boaters are now acting more responsibly. Mr. Sampson indicated the users want all to enjoy
the lake safely and it would be favorable to see the Harbormaster boat patrolling in the water. This brings a
high sense of awareness when a boat is on patrol.
