PERSONNEL BOARD <br /> MINUTES OF MARCH 17, 1986 <br /> M.ASHPEE TOWN- HALL <br /> The following member's of the Personnel Board were present: Caroline M. Gilligan, <br /> Manuel Glickman and C. Ben Lofchie. <br /> Acting- Chairman Gilligan convened the meeting a p.m. <br /> Meeting W/Executive Secretary & Bldg, Inspector <br /> The Executive Secretary, Joe Murphy, and the Building Inspector, Doug Boyd, met with <br /> the Personnel. Board with a re es o re-advertise the position. of Asst, Building <br /> Inspector, Doug Boyd explained to the Board that after thinking about the interviews, <br /> he was not totally comfortable with the finalists s chosen. He said that he would like <br /> o see a more polished candid ate with more.-hands on- e xpe fence. Toe Murphy indicated <br /> that after reviewing the resumes* he was not impressed. Ben asked if they thought <br /> they would get better? Doug commented that he asked the secretary to call the place- <br /> ment office at Wentworth Institute- and that h'e received six -esmes of individuals in- <br /> terested in the building field. Ben asked if theywere requesting that the applicants <br /> from- Wentworth be interviewed? The Executive Secretary replied that. hey. - ;.}no c-rsay- <br /> ing interview or to reject the other- applicants. He asked the Board if they felt they <br /> had three solid candidates who are technically proficient pointing out that the person <br /> would have to make public presentations and that. polish .would be important. He asked <br /> the Board to consider reviewing all assistant positions when- interviewing for a candid- <br /> ate that the candidate be looked at in termer 'f future advancement into the #1 Position <br /> in a priclar department. ' _ <br /> After further discussion, Ben Lofchie roved, to readver ise the position' of. Asst. Build- <br /> ing -Inspector and to contact Wentworth and Franklin Institutes with the job requirements, <br /> salary information and to Make them aware that the individual hired would be expected to <br /> lyre within a reasonable commuting di ance.', Doug Boyd suggested that the three top <br /> candidates be asked to xesubmit their ap lications. Manny Glickman seconded the motion. <br /> All in favor, <br /> Meeting With Council on Aging <br /> The following. members of the Council on Aging met with the Personnel. Boal in follow-up <br /> o' a request rade by the Personnel. Board to be.updated on the implementation of the new <br /> job descipions for Senior citizen Director and Cut-Reach co-ordinator prepared and ac- <br /> cepted by the Personnel Board last -summer: Priscilla Ham, Gertrude Cuthbert? Harold <br /> Boynton and Robert Stewart. Chairman McNulty was. away on a trip and another Board mem- <br /> ber of the Council, Arnold Swanson, ph rsicaily.could not attend. <br /> Ben Lofchie asked if they are having any problems with the job descriptions in relation- <br /> ship to the employees P `iscil.l.a. Hare Liaison person stated that two reports were <br /> prepared by her and ; .` .2.j. to the council and the Personnel. Board in follow up to the <br /> job descriptions. She.indica ed that both reports were done following oral, interviews <br /> with the employees. The Personnel Board reviewed the reports submitted by. Ms. Hain. . <br /> Ms. Ham said that she thought there are a lot of loose ends that they should be picking <br /> up on in- the Director's position. She said that the Cut-Reach Coordinator was doing <br /> quite a. bit -in relation to the job descrlp is plus extra and, in her opinion, -Mrs. <br /> Kimber passes. She commented that she felt M -. Frazier's attitude nems to be better <br /> towards the job. <br /> a <br />
