Personnel Board Meeting <br /> Minutes of August 24 , 1987 Page 2 <br /> Deputy Police Chief - re : [Updated Job Description' & [Updated PAP <br /> The Board�reviewed�a�memo dated August 10 from the Deputy Chief stating <br /> that he received and reviewed the job description f-or Deputy Chief of <br /> Police dated January 1 987 and believes it is an accurate account of duties <br /> and responsibilities presently being performed . <br /> The Board met with the Deputy to discuss his concerns regarding changes <br /> in the Personnel Administration Plan .- The Deputy advised the Board that <br /> there are changes in the recent police contract signed. with new provisions : <br /> He asked the Board to review the Police Contract when raking any charges <br /> in the P : P ; He advised the Board that there {has been a percentage be- <br /> tween the Deputy salary and the top step Sergeant which the Personnel Bd . <br /> has taken care of in the past Jit ' this--recent settlement of the police <br /> contract , the sergeants received a 12% increase which is more than what <br /> the patrolmen received which was because of disparity of other communities . <br /> Other concerns of the Deputy -are vacation buy-back , unlimited accumulation <br /> of sick leave and burr-back of sick time over sixty days (one for every <br /> three ) . <br /> The Board agreed to bring positions under the Personnel Administration Plan <br /> in line with the union contracts . <br /> Deputy Police Chief -- re : Medical-.,Expenditures . <br /> The Deputy advisedtheBoard that the Chief requested a transfer from the <br /> reserve account for -monies to be put into the Police Account to cover the <br /> cost of hepatitis shots . <br /> Chairman Sullivan asked what the department wa-s doing to protect the men <br /> from the - A . I .D . S virus . The Deputy replied that they have purchased gloves <br /> and surgical masks and are in the process of getting disinii,ectant soap <br /> The Board discussed budgeting extra monies in the personnel expense account <br /> to cover the costs of shots for next year in 'both the police and fire de- <br /> partments . ' <br /> I <br /> Police Finalists , <br /> The Deputy advised the Board that the background ;h, s on the three candid <br /> - <br /> The <br /> which are semi-finalists for the position of entry-level police officer <br /> have almost been completed . The candidates are : Scott is b" Mark Fr'eno <br /> and Joseph Yukna . <br /> Physical -.P . T .
