Board of Selectmen <br /> Regular Mee-Ling <br /> Monday,, August 10, 19 <br /> Present: Be Jean Thomas , Chairwoman ; Jeremy Carter; Andrew Gottlieb; <br /> Willard Hanson. <br /> The Chairwoman convened this meeting at 7: 00 P- Me <br /> Mr. Gottlieb moved that the minutes of the Regular and Executive <br /> sessions held on July 27, 1987 be accepted as presented, Mrs Hanson <br /> seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous . <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS <br /> 1. Commonwealth Electric - Robert Laurita. Representa- <br /> tive of Commonwealth Electric , Robert La.urita., was present to dis- <br /> cuss the Utility' s Energy Efficiency Rebate Program. Mro laurita. <br /> had mailed some . in ormati n regarding this program for perusal by <br /> the Board prior to this meeting which had not yet been received. <br /> The program ends in August of 1988. The Board of Selectmen will <br /> make copies of the literature available to the School Committee and <br /> will also have it reviewed d by the Executive Secretary. <br /> 2. Fire Department - Ac tin.d'ir'e Chief Chase. Pursuant <br /> to his memorandum of August 7, 1987 Acting Fire Chief Chase dis- <br /> cussed ambulance fees for user service and noted that the schedule <br /> of fees has not been up-dated for several years , He. also discussed <br /> monetary reimbursement ent for compliance with state-mandated ambulance <br /> regulations . The Board of Selectmen unanimously agreed to authorize <br /> Acting Fire Chief Chase t put together comparison o ambulance <br /> fees for further review by the Board and also to investigate costs <br /> for persons who have insurance coverage for ambulance aservi.ces and <br /> those who do not, <br /> Acting Fire Chief Chase reviewed the Mass Casualty <br /> Incident which took place on August 6, 1987 at 205 Halyard lane , <br /> property which is owned by Chester We Sheets . Acting Chief Chase <br /> reported that it was the worst I a.s Casualty .incident. the Town has <br /> had and required the services of eight ambulances, several being <br /> from neighboring twwns who responded quickly t o- the mutual-aid call, <br /> There were eleven las pee fire service personnel responding, which <br /> according to Acting Chief Chase was possible due to a Fire Department <br /> Union meeting being 'n progress at the time of reporting of the inci- <br /> dent. Acting Chief Chase praised all personnel involved including <br /> those from mutual-aid services . It was unanimously agreed that the <br /> Board of Selectmen will convey a letter o ppre ata:on to Mashpee <br /> Fire Service Personnel for their expediency and care in responding <br /> to this incident. <br /> Acting Fire Chief Chase reported that he met with a <br /> representative from the state auditor's office and that there is <br /> money to be ocduped from the Commonwealth for maintaining -of a ,_ <br /> ula.n e s' e"rwice in. compliance. with any and all state laws or <br /> statutes after the passage of Proposition The Department artment will <br />
