• <br /> �F <br /> Board of Sel,ectmen <br /> Minutes - Special Meeting <br /> Wednesday, April 2 , 1989 <br /> Present - Selectmen Lawrence, Gottlieb, Carter* and Jacobson. <br /> Executive Secretary Murphy. <br /> Guests - Finance Committee members Heller, Dolan, Gallo, <br /> Towner and Vaccaro. Board of Health members Costa and <br /> Greelish. Elias McQuaid, Ernest Virgilio, Michael Harlon and <br /> Michael Scipione . <br /> The Board of Selectmen met in joint session with the Board of <br /> Health and Finance Committee to discuss options for operating <br /> the Town ' s solid waste transfer station. <br /> Mr. Greelish compared the costs of having the Town ' s DPW <br /> operate the facility anal transport refuse to the regional <br /> transfer~ station, He then reviewed the single bid received <br /> for a private contractor* to perform the same services . He <br /> also reviewed the proposed costs to accommodate recyclable <br /> materials and hazardous wastes . <br /> The Finance Committee, following a, caucus, unanimously voted <br /> to recommend the article seeking funding for a private <br /> contractor to operate the transfer station/landfill, as <br /> opposed to the article to seek funds to have the DBS operate <br /> the facility. <br /> Ir. Gottlieb moved to have the Board of Selectmen recommend <br /> to town meeting that the faci lty be operated by a private <br /> contractor. Mrs . Jacobson seconded the motion, which was <br /> approved unanimously. <br /> Following the joint meeting, the Executive Secretary <br /> discussed several town meeting logistical items with the <br /> Board . <br /> There being no further busitness, the Board adjourned at 8 -630 <br /> POM* <br /> spectfUll submitted <br /> Jos p <br /> rphy Jr. <br />
