7 <br /> S <br /> w <br /> BOARD OF S L E N <br /> MINUTES <br /> SPECIAL MEETINGo WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 27r 1989 <br /> Present ; Selectmen Gottlieb, Hansone Jacobson, Carter and <br /> Lawrence; Jeffrey Nutting and Joyce Mason <br /> The meeting was brought to order at 8 a .m. by Chairman <br /> Gottlieb. <br /> Budget FY91 - The first item for discussion was the E91 <br /> budget , It was the decision of the Board to have Jeff bring <br /> to the Board a balanced budget . They agreed all departments <br /> should contribute to the cuts needed to maintain services t <br /> a certain extent in all areas , The Board further agreed that <br /> Public Health and Safety would be the last place to make <br /> severe cuts . <br /> Selectmen discussed the issue of step increases and cost of <br /> living increases this would give employees a total of over <br /> a, period of one year. The Board agreed that a total increase <br /> o should be figured into the budgets next year. <br /> The Board advised Mr. Nutting that they would not be in favor <br /> of cutting administrative positions which would effect the <br /> operating ability of the town. <br /> Mr. Nutting was asked to include an explanation as to what <br /> the cuts would mean for the department being cut . <br /> The Selectmen agreed not to fill the 18 hour position created <br /> at the November special town meeting, which was to be <br /> assigned to the Building Inspector' s office . <br /> Letter from Sandwich -Selectmen r•e i ed a letter f rom the <br /> Sandwich Executive Secretary, Chris Whalen who requested a <br /> joint meeting between Sandwich and Mashpee to discuss a <br /> septage treatment facility. It was agreed that Selectman <br /> Jacobson would represent the Board if they should desire to <br /> have the Selectmen represented , <br /> Januar STM - Selectman Hansom moved to set January 29, 1990 <br /> s the date for the next special town meeting . He further <br /> moved to set the deadline for articles as Thursday, January <br /> 1990 . Selectman Carter seconded the motion. Vote was <br /> unanimous . <br /> Kenneth Coombs School - Selectman Hanson moved that no <br /> further money be released relating to the construction of the <br /> school until the problems that exist are corrected . <br /> Selectman Carter seconded the motion.
