I
BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2
' MINUTES
ONDA , JANUARY 289 1991
Vater District re: Ballot Questiont
Selectman Lawrence is concerned with the people who are currently
being sere d- . by Highwood Water, since the taking of ownership is
not in the Legislation, he is concerned if the acquisition does not
take place,
Selectman Lawrence is in favor as long as the people are not
subject to the tax, Attorney Henchy made note of the ballot re-draft.
The ballot question is contingent upon the taking of Highwood.
Attorney Henchy noted the ballot question is only effective with
voter approval and subject to the acquisition of Highwood.. There
would be no request for this vote unless the District approved the
acquisition.
The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to place the ballot
question on the May 11, 1991 - Annual Town Election. Selectman Jacobson
seconded the motion, The vote is unanimous with the Selectman. The
vote is 5-o.
Pop on.e set Island Bridge:
Kevin Harrington rade note of a check the Town has recie ed for
$20, 000 from the residents of Popponesset Island to cover the expenses
re' t e d to the repair of the bridge abutment. The residents have
pledged their support,
Approval of Step Increase for Dispatcher wane Woodward:
The motion was made by Selectman. Gottlieb to approve the step
increase for Public Safety Dispatcher Wayne Woodward. Selectman
Jacobson seconded the motion, The approval is unanimous with the Board.
Selectman Manson made note of the time consumption and paperwork
for the anticipated step increases. He has suggested the step increases
be brought to the Board' s attention at one time rather than individually.
This would save time and energy from the office.
Anne' Shaw . agrees and feels it would help sage time in the treasurer, s
office. Mr. Harrington also feels this suggestion has some merit i to
approve at one time, but not all anniversary dates are the same.
Kevin Harrington will discuss this with the department heads,
Selectman Carter also agrees. The Board may not have to view the full
evaluation' s, but could request thea when necessary to alleviate extra
paperwork.
Communication from Route 28 Corridor Advisory Committee
Serving as representative to the Town, Kevin Harrington will
attend the meeting scheduled for Wednesda.yt January 309 1991 at 2: 00 pe. e
Communication from the office of the State
In regards to the informational memo from the office of the
Secretary of State, the Town Clerk' s office will return the local
redistricting questionnaire to the Elections Division by the 15th
of February as requested.
Save the Bay Pro 'ect:
Selectman Carter made note of the meeting he will be attending on
Saturday, February 2nd at the New Seabury Real Estate office concerning
Save the Bay and future dredging in Poppo es et Bay.
