t
4 L
ARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2
MINUTES
MONDAY, APRIL ly 1991
Conservation Commission:
If more money is available from any source in October reports
Jim Vaccaro the money would be transferred into the salary and wage
account* If the money is not there and is only taken from the dedicated
account, there may have to be cutbacks on hours. He has suggested
to run until October and see where we are at that point.
The shortfall of $2485 will represent a 22% reduction in hours
and the Conservation Commission has not seen the slow down in the
economy reports Mr. Coffey, It will be difficult to maintain the
services.
Selectman Carter asked if money could be ,increased from fees
to sustain the commission* Patrick Coffey replied it is their objective
to increase the services and not maintain them.
Selectman Gottlieb stated it is the intent of the Finance Committee
to maintain the departments ability to function, They have a good
alternative to wait until October to find money or cut back the hours.
Ms. Ferriday feels the Con Com may have to close the doors to
the public with the workload and the reduction of hours. There is
a total of $9, 000 that has been taken from dedicated funds. The Cori Com
would like the support of the Selectmen, It is one of the few commissions
under strict time constraints. The applications are time consuming
to process.
7108p.m. It was suggested by Dr. Petti to relocate the meeting with
such a large gathering in the hall. Additional chairs have been added
to the Selectmen' s Conference Room.
7: 11 p.m. The Meeting has resumed.
Selectman Jacobson is concerned with the cut back of regulatory
agencies in Toirn and to reiterate the use of dedicated fees.
Ms. Ferriday reported the increase of the Con Com from 1985 t
553%. The increase is clue to the increased personnel budget. In the
past, the secretary was budgeted through the Personnel Board. Selectman.
Carter has suggested the Conservation Commission have handouts at the
,
Town Meeting to clarif-y the increase to the residents.
The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to support the recommend-
ation of the Finance Committee plus the transfer of $1, 000 from the
expense ac c unt, to the salary and gage account for the spring Town
Meeting,
i The motion was seconded by Selectman Hanson. The vote is unanimous
with the Board.
Parade,
The People' s Victory Parade has been scheduled for Saturday,
April 6, 1991 at 11: 00 a..m.
