� e { BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page 2 ,I1 UT S TUESDAY, APRIL 16p 1991 Prothero Land Donation,, It was requested by Town Counsel and suggested by Mr. Harrington to ask the Board of Selectmen to abate the taxes on the five parcels of land donated by Dr. Pro thero . The approximate total of the five islands is $1130. The value exceeds the taxes- on the land. Mr. Harrington has talked with the Director of Assessing and it is agreeable to abate the taxes on the land the Town now owns. Selectman Hanson is abstaining -from voting on this issue since he has not recieved all the facts. The motion was made by Selectman Lawrence to request the Board of Assessors to abate as per our agreement between the Town and Dr. Pr'othero. The motion was seconded by Selectman Carter, The vote is unanimous with the Board. The vote is 2-0. 7: 17 P.m. Count Beach Stacker: George Costa was present to discuss the trial based beach sticker to be distributed to towns who elect to participate in a County Beach Sticker Program* The cost of- the beach sticker would be $25. 00 and the revenue derived will be retained by the issuing town. The object is to allow residents of Cape Cod to enjoy the beaches of Cape Cod, The sticker would be valid on Mondays through Fridays on a. trial basis. Selectman Hanson is in favor of the benefit to get the opportunity to go to other l eache-s,,. Selectman Lawrence feels Mashpee may benefit more ti*ars other to n' s i Mr. Costa has encouraged the Board to approve and participate. This is a. trial period and the town is not obligated after the first year. Each town would designate what beaches could be used whether. e fresh or salt water. This approval does not have to go to Town Meeting and a list of the designated leaches could be supplied to the County Commissioner at aLater date, Selectman Lawrence is opposed to the idea., it' s another layer of government to tell us where to &o. Mshpee may have greater use than other town, The motion was mace by Selectman Carter to accept the county wide � � beachst' cuer and designate after the ordinance is passed, Selectman Hanson seconded- the motion. The vote of the Board is 2-1 with Selectman Lawrence in opposition. hA1 BUSINESS: 7: 25 P.m. FY..91 School Budget Expenditures and. Surplus: A memo dated April lo, 1991 from the Finance committee Chairman has asked for the support of the Board to request the School Committee refund all user-fees collected wring FY 91. There are also concerns relative to the expenditure of the FY 91 budget and reported surplus of $368, 5.50.
