BOARD OF SELECTMEN <br /> ' <br /> MINUTES <br /> MONDAY T 3, 1991 <br /> Present: Selectman Jacobson, Selectman Gottlieb, Selectman Lawrence, <br /> Selectman Caffyn <br /> Executive Secretary -Kevin J. Harrington <br /> 'down Counsel Joseph J. Reardon <br /> Absent: Selectman Hanson <br /> Guests: Anne Shaw, Denise Sullivan, Elizabeth Pettit Paul Ott, <br /> Chief Frye, Chief Ridgeway, William Ha..uck, Dean Driscoll, <br /> George Benway III , Al Polsi'; John and Gertrude Ferriday <br /> The Meeting was Called to order by Chairman Jacobson at 7: 00 P o m. <br /> PUBLY DISCUSSION <br /> Denise Sullivan was present for the discussion pertaining to the <br /> loss of employment due to fiscal constraints of the Town. She has <br /> suggested to notify the employee' s before the intended loss of employ- <br /> ment rather thah notification at a. public meeting. <br /> Unfortunately this is a topic of public discussion to be improved <br /> upon states Kevin Harrington. The Board Meetings of the Selectmen are <br /> open to the public, but points should be clarified in terms of notification <br /> to the individual of the funded or unfunded position. <br /> Mr. Harrington notified the Board of a recent meeting with Ms. <br /> Sullivan, Diane Roan elmeyer, Marilyn Farren and a. Union Representative <br /> on this subject of concern, A letter has been sent to �.s. Sullivan <br /> of benefits available for an unfunded position. <br /> Mr. Harrington will continue to meet with employee' s whose positions <br /> have been reduced due to budgetary constraints, <br /> M s. Sullivan thanks Mr. Harrington for working with her on this <br /> matter of concern. <br /> Marie Skelley was present to discuss the burial grounds in Mashpee <br /> that are '.n need of pruning and maintenance. She asks of the program <br /> Sheriff DeMello has initiated and the Project (,',o ch to obtain volunteers? <br /> Selectman Gottlieb explains the Board has expressed an interest <br /> in the involvement t o f these pro grams. The Board has been looking for <br /> projects the inmates could be involved with. <br /> Ir. Harrington informs the Board the Town has used Project Coach <br /> in the past in their work release program. This week the DPMI will have <br /> a work week on the ballfield. suffici,ent notice is needed to obtain <br /> the supervised work crews. The available days of volunteer service can <br /> be Monday and Thursdays. <br /> Ms. Skelle is enthusiastic and will advise the Historical Commission <br /> at their monthly meeting. Selectman Jacobson thanks her for the advise-r <br /> ment. <br /> Al P lsi discussed the consideration of purchasing the property <br /> where US Trust is currently located near the rotary. He Feels it would <br /> be a great asset if the Town purchased the property. <br /> Selectman Jacobson made note this will be considered and reviewed <br /> later tonight on the agenda. She asks the public to spread the word of <br /> the public comment period and the assessability of the Board to the <br /> public during this time period. <br />
