i t BOARD o ' SELECTMal 'age 6 MATS MONDAY AY UNE 17P 1991 Leisure Services Executive Council Handbook: Selectman Jacobson made note it was her recollection that the intention of the Board of Selectmen was to create a. Leisure Service Department to serve the needs of the Town n and have an advisory board to report to the Selectmen that is what the job description says. The recreational and educational prograum have been very successful. It was noted by Kevin Darrington the Community School Executive Council existed prior to the merging into one department. They have the responsibility to execute some - udib ari s« Mr. Harrington is not opposed to the format, but Feels it is riot adequately covering the other departments of Leisure Service. With the .merge two years ago states Evelyn Buschenfeldt, the Community ity School Executive Council spoke with Town Council of this concern. He had felt it was handled incorrectly. There should be dual responsibility to the community school, t was agreed that this was the way it should be states Mrs. uschen eldt and a.lot of hours were spent on the bylaw. The committee voted unanimously to adopt the Leisure Services ,executive Council. Handbook on November 6, 1990. The School Committee also unanimous ly approved the handbook on November 13, 1990. There have also been two meetings with Town Councdl and there is no problem with the handbook. She asks the Board to approve the handbook since their nes• year begins on July 1, 19918 Mr. Harrington was wore optimistic of the outlines to be attained last year. He is now concerned that we are not focusing proper -. directions of other needs of Leisure Services other than the Community School. Selectman Lawrence is concerned with not seeing this until last week. He asks why the Board has not had a chance to view the hand-- boo Chairman Jacobson made note it was forwarded to fir. Reardon for review and not brought to the attention of the Board. Selectman Lawrence questions how can you have a successful Leisure Service Committee with u all of the Boards involved? It was recommended by Selectman Gottlieb to review the letter From Mr. Reardon since the opinion has generated a.lot of the structure, Selectman Caffyn agrees for it is critical we work together to use our school facilities. Since the short time frame, Selectman Gottlieb has suggested to bring this concern next week at the Board' s next scheduled meeting. 8 :43 pame Appointment of Gate Attendants The motion was made by Selectman Gottlieb to appoint Arthur polychrones, Dorothy Harper and Walter Lodi as gate attendants for the 1991 beach season commencing June 27, 1991 The motion was seconded by Selectman Lawrence. The vote of the Board is unanimous, The vote is 5-08 Discussion of Annual Appointments: It is the consensus of the Board to plane this on the agenda next week for discussion,
