r f M F BOARD of SELECTMEN Page 1 MINUTES MONDAY, AUGUST 10 ► 1992 COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Selectman Caffyn indicated that the meeting of August 13r 1992 to determine the facts of settlement in the Hendricks-Mace Case has been postponed . There will he an attempt to re-schedule in one week. A memo was received from Greg Taylor with regards to options of improving the Selectmen ' s Conference Room. Both estimates amount to $900 informs Selectman Caf fyn . To strip and sand the floor and Coat with polyurethane or install the area with commercial carpet are suggested options . Selectman Vaccaro indicates that it is inappropriate at this time for the Selectmen to spend an additional money. He reCommeds to wash and wax the floor before the furniture is placed in the room. Selectman Vaccaro indicates iia . is in opposition to spend the money with the financial Constraints of the Town, He notes that the Selectmen are fortunate to have received the furniture ` k; no cost , Selectman Ca fyn. indicates that a general spending policy should apply to all Town Departments . She made note of an expenditure made by the School Department for the Cleaning of half of the Town Hall amounting to $18 ,000. A Cookout is scheduled on August 29 , 1992 at 4:00 p.m informs Selectman Jacobson in the Town of Dennis , This will include discussion for strategy ,recarding the Outfall Pipe, The Board is in agreement for the Chief Procurement Of f icer to purchase a shave or blinds for the office of the Executive Secretary. - 9 : 13 p.m. NEW BUSINESS: Memo from the Personnel Board re * Floating Clerk Appointment : Selectman Vaccaro indicates his concern to filling a position that has been vacant due to financial constraints . Although the money is in the budget , he has recommended to not fill the position. Selectman Costa relates that advertisement was made in house only, He recommends to post the position, This is a job opportunity and citizens should be made aware of it . He notes the Cost savings of the position to aid when departments are overloaded with work or an employee is ill .
