BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br /> MINUTES <br /> THURSDAY, JANUARY 7r 199 <br /> Review of EvaluationwPress : <br /> Review was rade of the Suggested Policy for Performance <br /> Appraisals and Goal setting for Salary Management Employee ' s as <br /> submitted by chairman cafyn dated January 7 , 1993 . <br /> The procedure as recommended involves the full Board of <br /> Selectmen to be aware of an evaluation and offer- input andor <br /> comments .into the evaluation and future goals of Department <br /> Heads . <br /> The Board of Selectmen will vote to accept and approve the <br /> performance appraisal , pay increase and established goals prior <br /> to final approval. If an employee is not satisfied with the <br /> results , . a meeting can be requested with the full Board in public <br /> or private consultation, <br /> Consideration will be given towards the use of the merit <br /> basis vs . step process . The Personnel Board will he consulted <br /> regarding this procedure. <br /> Selectman Caffyn recommends to develop a type of management <br /> tool for Department Meads as they complete the evaluation <br /> process . she recommends to consult the Department Meads to <br /> determine if they are in fact evaluating their employeels. This <br /> is an important aspect of a management ement position. <br /> *The Board is in agreement o defer the acceptance of the <br /> Suggested Policy for Performance Appraisals and Goal Setting for <br /> Salary Management Employee ' s until the full Board has digested <br /> the material as presented .
