BOARD OF SELECTMEN Page <br />MINUTES <br />M NDA , MARCH 81 1993 <br />Deputy Baer <br />**The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to designate <br />Deputy George Baker as Acting -Fire chief in the absence of - a Fire <br />Chief and give the support of the Board of Selectmen. .The motion <br />was seconded by Selectman Mills. VOTE: Unanimous. -o . <br />Memo from Anne T. Shaw, Treasurer r: chapter 9, Section <br />D. <br />Anne Shaw recommended the Board accept the provisions of <br />Chapter 29, Section 64D to commence on July 1, 1993. This allows <br />the Town to place employee's who are not ' members of the <br />retirement system into the Town's deferred compensation plan. <br />s. Shaw indicated that the enrollment in the deferred <br />compensation plan must be mandatory and a condition of employment <br />for these employee's once accepted by the majority of the Board <br />of Selectmen. This will result in a savings of approximately <br />$30,000 informed Ms. Shaw. <br />*The motion was made by Selectman Jacobson to authorize the <br />Town to accept the provisions of Chapter 29, Section 64D of the <br />MA General laws as directed. by Anne Shaw, Treasurer and place <br />these employee's in the deferred compensation plan effective -July <br />1, 1993. The motion was seconded by Selectman costa. VOTE; <br />Unanimous. - . <br />p.m. Selectman costa left the Meeting. <br />COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br />Eastern Mountain Sports re: Use of MashpeeTaeby Pond: <br />A request was received from Eastern Mountain Sports dated <br />February 26, 1993 in reference to obtaining permission to use the <br />State Boat lamp area for a kayaking clinic on Sunday, Tune 27, <br />1993 from 10:00 a.m. to : 0 p.m. <br />Eastern. Mountain Sports has also requested to use the small <br />sandy beach in the above area to store kayaks not in use. Fifty <br />participants are expected over the six hour period. <br />Selectman Jacobsonnoted that the small sandy beach is <br />strictly a launch area and not an area to store kayaks. She <br />indicated that the requested date may be the day of the opening <br />of the beaches in Mashpee. <br />*The use of MashpeeWaeby Pond as requested by Eastern <br />46 Mountain Sports will be directed to the Waterways Commission for <br />input. <br />
