I.
r
h
4 5
BOARD of SELECTMEN Page
MINUTES
MONDAY, JULY 121 1993
Correspondence from Tory Counsel re: _Grievance:
r
Al Polsi; We haven't found anything out in,the paper or
heard from anyone explaining their reasons. That is your reason
for laying her off or not re -appointing her? That is what the
people want to know. I think we owe that to the people who have
elected you and to the taxpayers of the town.
Al Polsi: Because, we are going to be facing in the next few
months, very, very important issues such as, we are going to
build a new high school. We have to fund other programs. The
people are going to be so disturbed with what happened here, it
is going to be very difficult to get anything through the town.
Your going go divide this town completely.
Al Polsi: You've got to re -consider what you have done and
at least give a reason for why you've done. I'm not saying to re-
hire, but give a reason.
Deidre reelish: I am a little concerned that your first
response to the crowd was to read a legal opinion. Because, you
got into office on recall and that selectman had the
stupi-dity..about what was printed in the paper that what he did
was legal even if it wasn't moral, I think these people are not
interested in legal.., they are interested in answers.* and you.
are saying that the grievance was in the paper that Christine
Donovan was trying to bring for the town, it was really just
trying to bring the thing out into the open.
Mrs. reelish: While we don't have to address that
grievance, I think everybody here can put their Wane on that
grievance and say here, the Town of Mashpee is making the
grievance. All of that ... we want it addressed in an open
meet i ng .
Mrs, reelih: The fact that this fifteen minutes they had
to almost beg to get the ' fifteen minutes. That fifteen minutes
for Public Discussion has been on that agenda all through Nancy.
offyn's tenure. It was instituted by Carol Jacobson. This is
the open government. People just voted two months ago to status
quo, everything is working, the Board is working, let's keep it
the way it is, This is not the way it was two months ago. And,
we want it back the way it was before, Amen..
Selectman vaocaro: May I make some suggestions. Number
one, the reason that I read the letter from Town Counsel was
because Mrs, Caffyn suggested it was on the agenda and I think it
was appropriate because it sets the legal aspects of the case.
0
0
