t + <br />a <br />1 <br />BOARD of SELECTMEN Page <br />4MINUTES <br />TUESDAY, SEPTEM E1 71 1993 -- - <br />7:40 p.m. Public Hearing: <br />Liquor License/Bayberry's Cntr~ .Store <br />Selectman vaccaro opened the Public Hearing for the purpose <br />of discussing the application of Bayberry's Country Store for a <br />Wine and Malt Package Goods Store License. <br />Mr. Whritenour indicated that all necessary paperwork is in <br />order with the exception of a check payable to the Town in the <br />amount of $40.00. <br />Attorney Fitch presented a check o the Executive Secretary <br />in the amount of $40,00. Attorney Fitch also submitted return <br />receipts of notification to abutters of Bayberry's Country Store <br />for review. <br />Walter and Marianne Murray, owners of the establishment were <br />present to discuss the liquor license application with the <br />Board. Also present for discussion was Manager, -William Lyons. <br />Attorney Fitch indicated that Bayberry's Country Store is <br />styled similar to a New York delicatessen. The store will offer <br />convenience store items in addition to beer and wine sales. <br />Loitering will not be tolerated on the premises indicated <br />Attorney Fitch. Business hours are scheduled to conclude at <br />10:00 p.m. <br />Hazel Oakley, a long time resident of Mashpee presented a <br />petition to the Chairman in opposition of the liquor license <br />application, Thirty-six names of Mashpee residents were <br />presented on the petition. <br />Selectman vaooaro read the letter as submitted by Ms. Oakley <br />in opposition of the license application. Selectman vaccaro also <br />read a letter as submitted in opposition of beer and wine sales <br />by the Mashpee i4ampanoag Chronic Disease Prevention <br />Program dated September 7, 1993. (enclosed) <br />Frances Houston, Pastor of the Mashpee Baptist Church spore <br />in opposition to the proposal, In the past, this has been a bad <br />element in the area o F the store and adjacent property explained <br />M. Houston. For the residents and at a main entrance into <br />Mashpee, it is not a family model to uphold stated Ms, Houston <br />4D <br />
