The, noise coming out of the Raw Bar at night is
truly deafening. The patrons of the Raw Bar do not have
quiet conversations, as one might expect from a cocktail
lom nge . There is continuous shouting, screaming, and
raucous laughter, as one group of drinkers tries to shout
over the voices of other groups.
The Raw Bair advertises its closing schedule, but its
scheduled closing is merely the last call for drinks. By
thetime those drinks are distributed and finished, it is an
hour past the announced closing time, with the noise
constantly increasing in volume as more liquor is consumed.
When the patrons finally leave. the Raw Bar that is not
the end of the evening, either for the patrons or the long-
suffering abutters, as the patrons linger outside th-e Raw
Bar, in the Popponesset Marketplace, and in the parking lot
while they finish their conversations at the top of their
voices, one group shouting to another group. When they
finally depart, it is with shouts, horn blowing, and
squealing tires.
e must keep our windows closed even on the hottest
nights in order to get a decent night's sleep. In previous
years 1 have mad-e complaints both to the Mashpee Police
Department and to the New Seabury Corporation, to no avail..
I urge the Board of Selectmen to spend an entire Saturday
evening at the Raw Bar to get the full experience of what
it # s abutters must contend with.
