40 <br />0. <br />MINLTrES <br />BOARD of SELECTMEN <br />SATUR AY, DECEMBER 4, 1993 <br />Present: Selectman vaccaro, Selectman Mills, Selectman Caffyn, Selectman <br />Costa and Executive Seretary, Robert Whritenour <br />The meeting was called to order at 1 : o a.m. <br />Mr. Whritenour gave the Board a report on the stags of setting the FY1994 tax -rate and <br />funding requirements of the Education Reform Act. Mr. Whritenour informed the Board <br />that the Department of Revenue has forwarded correspondence ruling on the validity of the <br />contingent appropriation for the School Department which was made at the Annual Town <br />Meeting of October 4, 1993. The Department of Revenue has ruled that this article i <br />invalid because of the contingency that the fronds were appropriated "if required by the <br />Education Reform Act." liar. Whritenour also informed the Board that on Friday, <br />December 2 the Torn received certification from the Mate Department of Education <br />regard g the town's minimum contribution for educational purposes as amended by the <br />arnounfs .the Torn designates for debt service on schools. The To n's original minimum <br />contribution was $7,097,000. -The amended nu*ni um contribution is $6,696,000. As a <br />result of the decrease in the To n's minimum contnibution, funds currently appropriated <br />will satisfy all rru*nimum requirements for School Department appropriations under the <br />Education Reform Act. <br />It was moved by Selectman Mills, seconded by Seleetrnn Costa and voted unanimously to <br />authorize the Chairman to sign on behalf of the Board the Department of Revenue forms <br />necessary for the documentation of 1lashpee and Regional School District budgets required <br />for setting the Town's tax rate. <br />The meeting was adjourned at 1 : 15 a.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />M000bert L.
