i <br /> MINUTES OF S LECT EN t S MEETING <br /> DATE: 16 Jure 1955 <br /> Meeting convened at 8:00 PM. <br /> The recreation committee represented by all members <br /> (Fred Pocknett, Maurice Oakley and Kenneth Tobey) and the Park <br /> Commission represented by Kenneth Coombs and Elmont Tobey <br /> met with the board to further discuss the responsibility of <br /> the ball park. The Recreation Commission agreed to continue <br /> the maintenance of the ball park for the balance of the year <br /> with the understanding that the expense of upkeep would e <br /> Included in the Park Commission budget next year. Various <br /> other aspects of both programs were discussed with emphasis <br /> being placed, n reports to be submitted for Annual Town <br /> Meetings. Both committees were advised to keep records in <br /> order that additional monies may be reques-ted in the future <br /> with proper justification in anticlaptlon of expansion of <br /> programs. <br /> Letters of acceptance were sent to Germain's for Fire <br /> Department Generator and Veg Acre Farm for Fire .Department <br /> Water Pump. <br /> In regard to Otis issuing fire permits for use at John i s <br /> Fond Area designated for Otis Air Force personnel, it was decided <br /> to contact Otis and request a meeting of Selectmen, Fire Chief, <br /> and representative from Otis to work out an agreeable arrange,, <br /> went for the best interest of the Town. Otis is willing to <br /> assume all responsibility of protecting area against fire <br /> however, Miss Peters felt that should an unc nt of ab l e gire <br /> occur, the Town of Mashpee is responsible and under the present <br /> set-up there should be a -written agreement between Otis and <br /> Mashpee clarifying the responsibility Otis has assumed. Fire <br /> Chief Peters is in faro , of appointing Chief Cahoon a Deputy <br /> Forest Warden for Mashpee to cover John' s Pond area. This will <br /> be taken into consideration Miss Peters will contact a <br /> representative from Otis during -the .following week. bm <br /> The hearingfor Alice . : . se- d/b/a Hilltop Lodge for <br /> alcoholic Violation was originally set for 16 June but for the <br /> convenience of all, the date was changed to 23 June. <br /> Mr. Mycock informed the Bcwd that condemned property could <br /> be destroyed a the expense of the town after proper notification <br /> to heirs and interested parties thru newspaper advertising and <br /> etc . A hearing must be held at which time owners mayap ear <br /> in protest. if their objections are overruled by the Board <br /> the case may be taken to superior Court within 3 days after <br /> hea, ring, <br />
