!� Minutes of the Selectmen' s Meeting <br /> Wednesday, November 6, 1974 <br /> All Selectmen and Town Counsel present. <br /> 1. ) A Special Town Meeting is planned for January 29th. Notices <br /> sent to all departments, committees and commissions . Deadline <br /> for articles and/or petitions November 30, 1974 <br /> 2) Name drawn for jury duty, Clara Dickson, Route 130, ,Mashpee, <br /> Ma. <br /> 3) .Jerry DePalma Recreational Director, met with Selectmen with a <br /> proposal of an outdoor basketball court. To be located at Collin' s <br /> Lot. `-Vhanimous approval. <br /> 4) Kenneth Barclay Shellfish Constable, met with Selectmen <br /> for approval of the 1974 budget which will be sent to the <br /> State. Approved. <br /> 5) Class III hearing held for Arnold H. Delancy, Jr. Notes <br /> attached. <br /> 6) Eleanor Sturgis requested to examine old town reports of <br /> 1923. Request granted, but town reports were not allowed <br /> to be taken from the office. <br /> 7) Clara Kelliini, met with Selectman Hicks. Discussion unknaw--a- <br /> 8) Chairman of the Finance Committee, Personnel Board Chmn. , <br /> Robert Graham, William Clendenin, Town Counsel, met at <br /> the request of the Board of Selectmen to discuss a legal and <br /> reasonable procedure to aid the future Executive Secretary <br /> with his move from. Missouri. <br /> Town Counsel advised members present the amount approprtiact'ed <br /> at annual town meeting was $12,000 for salary. Therefore, <br /> could not be used in any other manner, but the ' Selectmen <br /> have the authority to state when this position commences. <br /> Personnel Board was in full agreement of any assistance <br /> which could be given. Mr. McMahan, had willing come a great <br /> distance for his interview, with no complaints of the expense , <br /> and with the most experience of anyone of the thirty-three <br /> applicants reviewed. <br /> Finance chairman would not in any manner commit ..:his Committee, <br /> but personally felt he could go along with the decision made. <br /> Decision: Brent McMahan' s appointment as Executive will become <br /> effective, October 23, 1974. The day of his acceptance. Thus, <br /> alleviating some of the moving expenses. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 11 : 15 p.m. <br /> jt <br />
