Minutes of the Selectmen' s Meeting <br /> f <br /> Wednesday, October 30, 1974,'- <br /> All Selectmen and Town Counsel. present. <br /> Selectman Peters called away for a special meeting. <br /> 1) Robert Maxim met with Selectmen in closed session. <br /> 2) Tom Stewert from Dare School requested approval from the <br /> Selectmen to submit two positions to the CETA program. The <br /> salaries would be paid by this program. Selectmen advised <br /> Mr. Stewert, more information was needed. <br /> 3) Mrs. Amelia Bingham, Director of the Wampanoag Indian Museum: <br /> met with Selectmen requesting approval to obtain a surplus building <br /> from Otis as an addition to the museum. Permission <br /> denied, Other steps will be taken in the future. <br /> 4) Robert Graham is now chairman of the Personnel Board, with <br /> William Clendenin as secretary. <br /> 5) One day B/W license issued to the Wampanoag Rod and Gun Club <br /> for November 3, 1974, <br /> 6) Eleanor McNutt Moskal requested permission for a gift shop, <br /> "Snow Goose" . Referred to the Appeals Board. <br /> 7) Members from HUD flood insurance met in the lobby of the <br /> town hall to discuss the program with residents of Mashpee. <br /> Sequoia Insurance, agents for the Town of Mashpee, attended this <br /> meeting. They were advised: Any resident who questions their <br /> flood insurance, and felt they were not in a flood zone , and <br /> improperly charged could: <br /> a) Appeal .to the Toy,-n. <br /> b) Write to HUD stating the circumstances, with a map of the <br /> area. <br /> c) The Town can appeal. to HUD for exemption, if they feel <br /> the resident is justified. <br /> New topographic maps will be more detailed and available in the <br /> next few months . <br /> A committee was selected to serve in the Mashpee area.
