Minutes of the Selectmen' s Meeting <br /> Wednesday, October 16, 1974 <br /> Selectmen Peters and Hicks present. <br /> Selectman O'Connell at home ill. <br /> Town Counsel present. <br /> 1) Peter K. Cutler and Clem Brophy of Town Taxi met with the <br /> Selectmen to discuss taxi:' permits for the Town of Ma'shpee. <br /> They stated Cheryl Costa has five permits and only one taxi <br /> operating at this .time and cannot provide the town with the <br /> service needed. They have noted if more service is required <br /> Falmouth Is called in. Further more. it does not seem possible <br /> for a town to issue permits with no vehicle for three of the <br /> permits. <br /> Selectman Peters first of all stated Mr. Costa has had very <br /> slims pickings .in the town, and he is a registered voter and <br /> taxpayer.- Until the town published Rules and Regulations for <br /> taxis, many of the other surrounding towns were taking all the <br /> business out. We feel we must look out for our own first. <br /> Until some complaints are received and/or they have some under- <br /> standing with Town Taxi; and they intern meet with the Selectmen <br /> with any decisions for approval the status will remain the same. <br /> 2) Appointment papers were signed for Jerry L. DePalma to the <br /> Bicycle Trail Committee, replacing Mike Horne who has resigned. . <br /> 3) Arnold H. Delancy, Jr. , of Mashpee Auto Sales has petiton2An <br /> the Board for a Class Ill license. Hearing will be November 6, 1974 <br /> at 8 :00 p.m. ; abutters notified. Vasico Williams , Eleanor Peters <br /> and Gordon Peters. <br /> 3) Mr. William Clendenin, Robert Maxim ard] John Malone of the Pers. <br /> Board met with the Selectmen, to inform the Board they have <br /> finished interviewing canidates for the position of executive <br /> secretary and will send forth their recommendations. George <br /> Rush, John Gardner, Jeff Meyer and Brent McMahan are under con- <br /> sideration at this time. Mr. Clendenin also stated, if these <br /> canda.tes ,, do no meet with the Board' s approval, they are willing <br /> to start all over. <br /> 4) N. B. & Edison Lt Co. hearing approved. <br /> 5) No bids received for the 1939 Maxim Fire Truck. <br /> 6) Town--By-Laws- wig°l be, brpught. up-to.-dale. <br /> ,;; <br /> Meeting adjourned at 11 : 15 p.m. <br /> it <br />
