46* <br /> r ' <br /> Selectmen' s minutes <br /> Emergency Meeting <br /> July , 19 79 <br /> Present: Chairman Kevin D. O'Connell, Selectmen George <br /> A. Benway, Jr. and Chester A. Garland <br /> -1 t 10 :- 00 a.m. , a motion was made by Selectman Ben a call <br /> an eme genc r. meeting to act on the necessary business t <br /> appoint four men' to the Fire . Department, filling the -four <br /> vacancies as -of June 30th, and, to act on the lack of gas <br /> in iashpee on Sundays. Seconded by Selectman Garland. <br /> Declared a vote by Chairman O' Connell. Unanimous <br /> Motion by Selectman Benway to appoint Brian Pierce , Michael <br /> Dyas , Robert Long and Geoffrey Willis as regular Firefighters. <br /> Seconded by Selectman Garland. Declared a vote by Chairman <br /> O' Connell. Unanimous. <br /> Mr. Charles Foster operator of the Faxon and Alcide Conder <br /> operator of Route #151 Shell were called in to the office to <br /> discuss the possibility of either one of the stations to remain <br /> open on Sundays . Within ten minutes both nen arrived and met <br /> with the Board. Chairman O' Connell, explained the Governor' <br /> Executive Order #160 which puts the responsibility' on the <br /> Selectmen' s shoulders to see that one gas station is open <br /> in Towr';t Both nen were more then agreeable to juggle hours <br /> .nd days of operation to comply with this request. Allocations <br /> and time of delivery were the deciding factor. Mr. Foster <br /> will open Sundays, 8a - 1pm with fir, Comier opening on Saturdays, <br /> a - 1pm, lir. Foster was concerned that problems may arise as the <br /> one o' clod cutoff of gas approaches and suggested that the <br /> police be present, or visibly nearby. The Selectmen agreed <br /> and Chief O' Connor will be advised of the closing hours of the <br /> gas stations and to lend assistance if needed, <br /> Since.. William Tann hi-11 Tisits has- -hack. his- -gas. pumps, removed <br /> and has not so'Id gas in two years, the Building Inspector will <br /> be instructed to do whatever- is necessary to have the , l �r�ge Amoco <br /> Ig removed ne-ar the as pee Rotary, <br /> - ..- . <br /> 4) Motion by Selectman Benway to appoint Br dford Norman Recreation <br /> Director. Secondee by. Selectman Garland. Declare a vote by <br /> Chairman O'Connell.
