Anderson <br /> John Anderson is the third. ranki Republican in the House of Representatives.entatives. Ike is the <br /> Chairman of the House Republican an conference and a senior member of the Rules Committee. <br /> National columnist David Broder effectively summarizes John Anderson by writing that he "is <br /> regarded as one of the House's leading orators and has been a major Republican spokesman on <br /> issues ranging from election reform to energy. Because he is conservative on most fiscal and <br /> economic questions, his strong support of civil rights legislation and his early criticism of the <br /> Watergate coverup drew the wrath of some conservative organizations." <br /> John Anderson is the chief sponsor of the Regulatory Reform Act of 1979, which would.benefit <br /> both business and.consumer by increasing competition and freeing commerce from unnecessary <br /> regulation. The Udall-Anderson Alaskan Lands Act seeks to conserve important blocs of that last <br /> natural wonderland while allowing for responsible development of that 'state's vast natural , <br /> resources. <br /> John Anderson has never lost an election!He has been elected to Congress ten consecutive times <br /> and he has been elected six times by Republican Colleagues to his House leadership post'. <br /> Congressman Anderson's home district (the 16th of Illinois) is to ated.in the northwestern corner <br /> f the state, bordering Iowa and -Wisconsin. Later,he was awarded a fellowship to the Harvard <br /> Law School, where he received a Master of Laws degree. <br /> Congressman Anderson served in the Army during World War II where he won four bathe stars. <br /> During the early 1950's he practiced lave — and was State's attorney — in Rockford. <br /> He is married, the father of five children and an active church and-community leader.James P..
