Puturp use of Old Town Hall/Recreation Building <br /> "Public-Hearing <br /> September 20, 1979 <br /> Notes <br /> Present: M/M- Charles Lawrence, Carol Jacobson Marie Scalley, <br /> Joyce Howell, 'Evelyn Cormier, Steve van Toll Eugene Martini., <br /> +/M Donald Beeman, John Malone, James Connery, Mrs . Stevens, <br /> Howland, Mrs, Lenore Anderson, Vernon Thomas, Mary Duddy, <br /> Jeannette Simpson, Harry Shuman and others. <br /> At 7:00 .rn. , the Recreation Director, Bradford Norman opened <br /> the hearing by reading the public notice which appeared in <br /> the 9/14/79 issue of the Falmouth Enterprise requesting that <br /> all Mashpee Citizens meet to discuss the. future use and/or <br /> disposition of the Old Town Hall and the Recreation Building <br /> located off Ratite #130 in Mashpee. (Notice also appeared in <br /> the 9/14/79 issue - of the Cape Cod Times <br /> Mr. Norman turned the meeting to discussion, stating the most I <br /> important aspect was the people ' s input in order to give the <br /> p <br /> Town some direction in what should be done with these buildings, <br /> { <br /> Approx, cost to heat the old town hall building over the coldest <br /> months in 1978: $700 .00 per month. Consider a 0 increase for <br /> this year. <br /> Alarm system estimates - Door alarms $ 800. 00 <br /> Electric tye 1, 300 .00 <br /> All windows, $45. per 4 21000 .00 <br /> $4 , 100, 00 <br /> Alarm the small recreation building 1, 390. 0 ' <br /> Alarm the Annex 0 0. 0 { <br /> Mr. Norman said that :he visited the Bourne 'and Falmouth community � <br /> buildings which are sisters - to the old town hall. Both buildings <br /> are supported by atown budget. In Bourne, ($43,960 , budget , a <br /> Beard of Directors run the building operation and activiti s . The <br /> recreation department 'ope r ate s the Falmouth building. � <br /> • Destroy the Old Town <br /> Suggestions received by i Norman so far. De y � <br /> Hall, renovate it, use it to house the Highway Department, lease it <br /> to a combination of agencies , Offer the building to the state, obtain t <br /> a solar /energy grant. <br /> Insurance. Who would have this responsibility (The town has <br /> the responsibility of the building itself. If the bldg. is vacated <br /> over a 60-day period, a new policy x.11 have t be rewritten and <br /> expensive.. Should the building w�l l be very p g be leased, the town <br /> still has the responsibility of the building, but the leaseholder <br /> Inas the responsibility of its contents. )- <br />
