Town Counsel <br /> in Boston representing the Town RE: the appellate Rod/Gun case, <br /> Mr. Anthony Bott sat in as substitute for J, Reardon. <br /> PUBLIC FEARING To CHANGE THE USE OF THE POLICE ANNEX To A DOG <br /> POUND. <br /> Chairman O'Connell opened the hearing by reading the public <br /> notice, which appeared in the 10/23/79 issue of the Falmouth <br /> Enterprise, A copy of this notice was sent to each abuttor. <br /> A.huttors present: <br /> Mr. Philip Almeida, representing his grandmother, <br /> Susan Jefferson, <br /> Mrs . Louise .Hinds <br /> Dog/Animal Control officer, James Ames , present. <br /> Mr. Acnes explained that he had talked with Mrs. Hinds and was <br /> told she would welcome activity near her house. Since the <br /> police relocated to their new quarters she feels a loss of <br /> security. (Note: It was later discovered at this hearing <br /> that it was the elderly Mrs . Hinds that Mr. Ames spoke with <br /> and not this Mrs . Louise Hinds) , <br /> Philip Almeida objected to the presence of a dock pound next <br /> to his grandmother' s house. He explained that she owns ap- <br /> proximately ll acres in the area and had sold the Town the <br /> parcel of land which the Police Annex is located on. At the <br /> time of the sale , the land was sold to erect a building to <br /> garage the Town Ambulance. Changing the use of this building <br /> will devaluate the property and be less attractive to sell. <br /> Mr. Ames said there would be no dogs outside in the evening <br /> hours , the-reby any noise would be abated. <br /> Mrs . Louise Hinds is opposed to the dock pound because it is in <br /> a residential area, and with the noise it would devaluate her <br /> property. She said that when the K-9 ' s were them they were <br /> disturbed at odd hours. <br /> Chairman O'Connell asked the Dock Officer if it was feasible <br /> to move the building to the municipal site off route 151+ <br /> Mr. Ames, at this point, withdrew his request to utilize the <br /> police annex as a clod pound. <br /> hai rman O' Connell requested Mr. Ames to compile the cost to <br /> pour a cement slab, provide sewerage, water, and move the an- <br /> nex building to the municipal site off route 151. <br /> Hearing closed at 2 : 45 p. . <br /> Respectfully Submitted, B, Jean Thomas <br />
