i <br /> Page 2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> February 14, 1994 <br /> Police Advisory Committee Applicants: <br /> Mashpee resident, Robert Borowski was present to discuss his interest in <br /> the establishment of an Advisory Comnfittee to obtain a greater understanding <br /> of daffy Police Departmental operations and to preserve general law and order <br /> in Mashpee. <br /> It is important for members of the Advisory Committee and Police Department <br /> to make an endeavor to establish a strong relationship and keep citizens informed <br /> indicated 1r. Borowski. <br /> The role of the comnuttee is perceived to make recommendations to the Chief of <br /> Police and Board of Selectmen for implementation of fair judgement related <br /> 11r. Borowski. <br /> i <br /> Karen Rudd expressed interest in serving on the Citizen Advisory Panel. She <br /> indicated that it is hopeful the committee will be able to relieve some of the tensions <br /> that have built up in Mashpee over the years to establish more positive community <br /> relations. <br /> Originally from the Roxbury area of Boston, Ms. Rudd indicated that she can offer <br /> the comnuttee her inner city living experience. <br /> Ms. Rudd is presently the Executive Director of the Bourne Housing Authority and has <br /> lived in Mashpee for three years with her two sons. <br /> Mashpee resident, B. Thom Christian indicated that he offers twenty years of <br /> Police experience. This ability would allow Mr. Christian to provide cohesiveness <br /> between the Police Department and comm nl*ty. <br /> When asked of the role of the committee, llrlr. Christian indicated that the Advisory <br /> Board will have the ability to review various Police actions and have the ability to act <br /> as a sounding board between the Police and community. This ability will promote <br /> awareness to allow information to be transmitted to the public. <br /> Marjorie Phillips,recently moved to Mashpee and desires to get involved in <br /> community activities. Her past experience includes the counseling of parents and <br /> troubled teens in behavioral programs for rehabilitation. i <br /> Ms.Phillips indicated that she was a Criminal Justice major in college and has <br /> experience in outreach programs. <br /> Franklin Looker indicated that he is a licensed Marriage and Fancily Therapist. <br /> He is also a Trental Health Counselor. His primary commitment is towards the <br /> development of goad public relations and support systems to identify community <br /> needs. <br />
