Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> July 2 , 1994 <br /> PUBLIC DISCUSSION: <br /> With regards to information pertaining to the extension of New Seabury' <br /> special pemut,it is the consensus of the Board to obtain input from <br /> Attorney Lane of Kolman and Paige. <br /> The material as deemed confidential by Attorney sane and will be released <br /> based on Attorney Lane's final review and approval. <br /> ' Future agenda topic. <br /> Noni Ferriday asked the people of Mashpee to respect conservation lana <br /> and Mashpee laws. She presented a conservation land sign that was <br /> destroyed for the Board's review. <br /> Fire Chief: <br /> Fire Chief Baler was present to discuss the recent Fire incident and <br /> response to 46 Spoondrift Way, Mashpee. As noted, the department was <br /> manned for the day shift consisting of one lieutenant,one firefighter <br /> paramedic and two firefighter EMT's. <br /> No Mashpee Fire Deponent personnel were in the station at the time <br /> of the first alarm assignment to 46 Spoondrift way. As procedure for all <br /> structural fires, all available Mashpee manpower were caped. Two <br /> Mashpee engine companies and an engine from Bast Falmouth were <br /> dispatched to the scene indicated Chief Baler. <br /> Upon arrival to the scene, 80%of the structure was involved in fire. <br /> The mala concern at this time was fire spread due to the amount of fire, <br /> wind conditions and recent lack of gain. It was noted that many of the <br /> surrounding structures contained wood shingled roofs. <br /> The response time was close to average indicated Chief Baker. A <br /> engine company from Cotuit was also requested to respond to the area <br /> as a result of heavy smoke accumulation. Mutual aid coverage was <br /> provided by Falmouth and `enterville sterville/Marstons Mills Fire <br /> Departments. <br /> Selectman Bills indicated that the Mashpee Fire Department did an <br /> outstanding job during this recent incident. It demonstrates that mutual <br /> aid is a beneficial process. <br /> Discussion followed with regards to adopting hydrants and neighborhood <br /> maintenance programs. Selectman Caffyn recommended to place a fire <br /> prevention program on cable television and further study neighborhood <br /> watch programs. <br /> Ben Gordon recommended to consider placing a second fire station in South <br /> Mashpee in.the future to reduce the response time. <br />
