Griffln explained the <br /> cost of -that would be devastating to 'the town . Mr , Aitchison <br /> responded that it may 'Instead burden the -town with expensive <br /> flaws . <br /> Mr . Ian Aitchison , Brian Rowlands and Nancy Sullivan were pre8ent <br /> representing Chartwe"ll and Co. <br /> The Committee had a lengthy discussion with them regarding the <br /> services they can provide and projects they have worked on in the <br /> past. <br /> Chairman Dinizio explained this is volunteer Copimit.tee. In order <br /> to got this project done professionally and cost effectively , we <br /> need some professlonal assistance . The Committee is concerned <br /> about who will do -thecoord-inat-ion , stay on top of the (Jay to day <br /> details and also present alternatives and cost control . <br /> Mr, Aitchison explained their background , They are., quantity <br /> surveyors, which is a British profession ( no such 'individual in <br /> North Amerlca) p They firoest came to the U . ,9, -,. in *1962 and have <br /> refined themselves to provide project tranagerent services . They <br /> have no vested interest in designing or engineering of the <br /> project; they take a partial and objective vlew ,, They develop <br /> strong budgets and schedules , in great detail , and then challenge <br /> and monitor the Architect to see the budget and schedule Js mot <br /> and there is less wasted time. <br /> The same philosophy for controlling costs applies to scheduling <br /> and project scope . You prepare the schedule upfront, if It 'is <br /> not being met you do something about it there and then a_nd take <br /> a <br /> ion Good architeots do not put up resistance to th'isc c t <br /> Mr. Griffin noted the Committee needs a f-irrn to review thes <br /> design , be aggressive, and tell the Committee if the Architect is <br /> not go'Ing in their best interest. <br /> M1 n Mart-iros is worried this is duplicating the services of the <br /> Architect who is doing cost comparisons. <br /> Mr , Aitchison responded they w-111 not be duplicating that <br /> I .rVIC011 .
