MSA HPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES <br /> TUESDAY , MAY 31 , 1994 <br /> TOWN HALL <br /> Members Present: Bill Iia rt i ros , Janice Mills, Peter D i n i z i o, Joan Tavares , <br /> Paul Griff i n , Merry Sue Ah l g ren , Michael Pare , Steve Gree l i sh , Joe Pol i to <br /> Also present : Brian Rowlands- Chartwell , Bob Fournier , Nor rios McCloud , Dan <br /> Sal iene , Dick Foster , Grog Taylor, Tori Fudala, Dr, DeMoura, Gus Fredricks <br /> Meeting convened at 4 : 05 p .m, <br /> Brian Rowlands explained that Ian is worried about the design selected . He <br /> would like a cheek , to see if the design is achievable within the budget . <br /> Norris explained there is a meeting tomorrow, with all in and out of house <br /> consultants , for a cost modeling . <br /> Paul asked SMMA if they have obtained approval for their subconsu l tants? <br /> Bob said they have not. Presently they are only using their own in house _ <br /> onest <br /> Paul is "ust advising them that they do need approval of all <br /> subconsultants. <br /> Bob said they have not yet be able to get a contract signed . <br /> Bob wh r i tenou r gave him 3 copies of a revised contract for review last <br /> Thursday . He reviewed it over the weekend and there are a few remaining <br /> issues,. <br /> Peter suggested they supply a list of all those they intend to work with , <br /> Bob said thein proposal lists all the consultants , except Chiles , the tech <br /> consultant , Bob will make a package of information on Chiles available to <br /> the coma i tte e i <br /> Building Design: <br /> Peter asked if the design the Committee is leaning towards appears to be <br /> achievable within the budget's They don ' t want to go down the wrong path . <br /> Bob sa rt d that des i gn has an of f i c i ent net to g toss a the re i s not a 1 of of <br /> corridor. The other designs had more circulation space. <br /> Janice explained that she feels strongly that a lighthouse is not <br /> appropriate for a Meas hpee school , It has nothing to do with the town <br /> ashpee has no port. There are a lot of other themes that have to do with <br /> Mashpee - indiansa cranberries, shellfishing . She thinks the committee f <br /> needs to express that immediately . <br /> Norris explained the intent was a symbolic type of entry , a focal point. <br /> Peter added a lighthouse is typical of cape Cod in general , we are looking <br /> for something more typical of Mashpee. It is not our character. <br /> Joan agreed she would like to see something unique to Mashpee -- someth in g <br /> that will educate the students before they even enter the buildingt <br /> Site Layout <br /> Dan Saliene walked the site again and looked at the layout considering last <br /> meeting ' s issues -- dispersing the parking as much as possible, tennis- <br /> location and possible dispersement, football - north to south orientation , <br /> -)nsu re entrance is not in shade so there will be no icing , larger buffer- <br /> -between the site and 1 1 . <br /> i <br />
