The team is the right size for this project with a lot of local experience <br /> and has the size and flexibility to service your needs . <br /> Our goal i s a first class high school for the town , teachers , parents and <br /> children . <br /> QUESTIONS <br /> Peter asked M r. wade if he was a quantity su rve yo rI <br /> He is* <br /> Peter asked about the Brookline school , the 120 per sq foot was expensive <br /> for an elementary school , did the building committee want an expensive <br /> school , whir did it come in so expensive? <br /> M r. wade said there are features built into the design that increase the <br /> cost. The high schools he was worked or ars usually $100-110 per sq foot. <br /> The architect did contribute to making that an expensive school . <br /> Paul said their team is well covered but they didn ' t to l about - rn i sh i <br /> and equipping, especially high tech. How will you advise us on that? <br /> M r *Tedesco said that is an important part of the project, high tech <br /> network, equipment, software and training. You will reed a consultant. <br /> Paul explained the committee has a consultant from the architect side, what <br /> w i l l th is team p rov i de? <br /> M r. Tedesco said that is a specific area of expertise , we will make <br /> recommendations for a consultant and it W ill be part of the Hanscot b <br /> contract. <br /> He explained at the Garfield school in Revere , they invited computer <br /> companies i n , trying to elicit donations of equipment. i tal eventually <br /> donated 1 million of equipment to the school and they use it as show ease . <br /> Merry sue said the architect will do the designing , and you will review it, <br /> how will you offer suggestions to them, can you give some e amp l es9 <br /> Mr . wade said through value engineering, increasing the value of your <br /> school . After getting input from the committee , discussing system options <br /> with you and.i thea e <br /> ' 11 bring tha i..+ back to the design team. <br /> const ructab i l ty , looking at the details and the potential for change <br /> orders . we will review the final documents for completeness and <br /> coordination between the trades ., <br /> Mr . Tedesco added that design 1s subjective , it has to he a Mashpee design , <br /> our design . we can help communicate what is Mashpee , ghat is a Mashpee <br /> school . You want to be proud of it and we will help facilitate that. <br /> Bill Marti res said he read a study that said only 6 of the building costs <br /> will be ca i'to 1 costs the real expense is operating it. Do you estimate <br /> the oast of different treatments# their lifecycle costs, and operating <br /> costs to give this Committee a choice? <br /> Mr, wade said they do, They also estimate the energy costs of a system, <br /> some are more or less efficient than others , we give you lifecycle costs <br /> for materials and all systemsor <br /> Janice asked if they have ever worked with sMMA or as project manager for a <br /> owner whose architect was sMM1A <br /> M r . wade said they have provided consulting services to SMMA. we know the <br /> firms well but are not employed by them presently . <br /> Joe asked about MEP area, if we insist you work on the schematics to get <br /> the engineering disciplines to effect the design of the building <br /> positively , how will you relate with the architect to achieve that'd <br /> M r . wade said you hire the architect to do the design , we will ask them <br /> what they proposed, will react to that and adv i se this committee <br /> accordingly ,. It is not appropriate to start out tolling the designer what <br /> to use . <br /> 8 <br />
