temporary use by grades 7 & S but are funding it as a high school at 155 sq <br /> feet per student at $145 . <br /> Items which could be an issue , i n the core - library, cafeteria, <br /> auditorium, gym s tat i o ns . <br /> Paul said in the year 2 , 000 projections for 9-12 , 771 students , 7-12 is <br /> 1260 so we are al ready maxed out, Realistically , we could get by through <br /> the year 2 , 000 with grades 7-12 . Grades 9--12 , high growth, even at 2012 we <br /> still have enough room. If we say 1180 now, we have two choices down the <br /> linea we can pull out the excess students or there are some components of <br /> the core which don ' t get bigger when student population goes up, once you <br /> hit ap l ateau . If you build the 1180 core, and 1'f we have to add a wing to <br /> the building to increase to 1350 students, what impact does it have on the <br /> core? The cafeteria may be a problem but the kitchen could handle i t. Maybe <br /> we should still leave the option open for an addition on the building . The <br /> cheapest thing to do is add classroom space (as opposed to bOlding another <br /> school ) . <br /> Steve Greelish said the NAS AC figures the State has is goo , for 7-12 , They <br /> have negotiated up to this number based on information we have provided <br /> They compromised between the goo and 1350 , <br /> Bill Jones said we can stretch this out re : the amount of room we finish <br /> and amount of equ ii pment we buy so we don ' t have extra capital costs . There <br /> needs to be discussion on a better fit of construction program, <br /> demographics and economics -- that is work for the architects . <br /> Decide on the core first , get a consensus of the Committee as to the size <br /> of the core we build * <br /> Merry Sue made a motion that the school we build have a core <br /> facility , including the cafeteria, library and the gyms for 1 , 180 <br /> students . Sill Jones seconded the motion . <br /> Discussion : <br /> Paul suggested the motion be amended to say that is our recommendation to <br /> the designer, we should leave it open for their opinion . <br /> Motion as amended : 6 members in favor (Merry Sue , Janice, Bi l l <br /> Jones , Bill Ma rt i ros , Peter , Paul Griffin) l opposed (Steve <br /> Creel ish ) ,, <br /> Square footage - 1 , 180 students x 155 sq feet = 182 , 900 gross sq feet. <br /> D r* co 1 l ab ro used a net to gross of 1 .4, for hallway , circulation . <br /> DRA used 1 f t The State will approve the gross sq footage . If we can design <br /> under 1 .4 we will get more net usable sq footage for whatever we want. <br /> How many classrooms wil1 be build for? 1 , 180 students , or less . The <br /> architect will want to know our criteria. <br /> Why wouldn ' t you build classrooms for 1 , 180? There is a. tradeoff with other <br /> facilities i .e pool . <br /> Steve asked ghat the 1,180 represents? Does it include cape cod Tech? <br /> Peter said it is a. figure grounded in politics .
