The Committee' s job is to weigh what is the best decision for the town and then decide how to put it out for communIty decision . The Committee agreed to look at the whole program, when it is completed , before prejudging how to make those choices. Fournier added they have to present cost reduction options to the Committee to look at and Grote in favor of some of them to bring it bac i nto the budget. we all have to live within the budget constraints . Paul does not want to see it designed for 120 and then have to go back and cut items out. From day one it should be designed for $110. He would rather design it under and then give back some extra. Paul has an objection to the draft program p resented today which states $120 per sq foot. From this point on it should be $110 . auditorium size and stage facilities : the auditorium is presently scheduled to seat 600 people, which is 1 /2 of the student body. Mr. Fournier explained because of handicap access requirements , the size of the room must be larger than Dr. Cal a.bro' s draft. A1so, the desire to make the room devisable with retractable walls requires wi der isles and also increases the space needed . The sq footage has to grow to accommodate these issues . Dr. Deoura stated the questions to be decided are should it be large enough for town meeting and how much of a performing arts center will-1 it be? He does not think you can depend on it as a teaching station ; The committee agreed the gym bleachers will accommodate town meeting , not the auditorium. Should this be designed as if the proposed performing arts center won ' t happen , or do we coordinate with them? Janice Mills said she spoke to Mr . Thompson about this issue . The high school auditorium has to be designed for plays, concerts, etc . we cannot plan on their facility being available. The Committee agreed to design a full auditorium to meet the program. we wont' make our auditorium less because we have one next door . -� Air conditioning : will this building be air-conditioned? The Committee would like MMA o look at the cost to put it in l ani# to operate .. 1 R Fournier said the office space for year round staff will be air conditioned, as will the auditorium,. Community awareness program, what does the Committee have to do? Merry Sue asked when the charette will be . That is her idea of community access.
