MINUTES K Ms, Ah 1 g ren made a motion to accept the minutes of Jan, 18, Jan . 25 and Feb. 1 . Paul Griffin seconded the motion. All members were in favor. COMMITTEE DISCUSSION RE: ARCHITECTURAL FIRMS Mr. U i n i z i o suggested the Committee talk about each firm in chronological order (according to date interviewed ) . Each member can say how they felt about each of the firms . The committee agreed. EES Bill Jones thinks they are a complete firm, have a good track record build efficient buildings. They are one of his top choicesi, Merry sue agreed they are one of her top choices. They �have Cape experience and worked with cape architecture. Janice Mills also ag reed they are one of her to choices .p There basic . design is very efficient. Paul Griffin agreed Keyes is a very good firm. I f they were chosen, we can talk about our concerns about lack of "flair" . He liked all their jobs he visited . He is concerned the Groton school had some problems which was mainly contractor responsibility but Keyes a0reed they should have followed thea more carefully, Peter explained some of the problems at the Groton school , The town will have to pay for those repairs , The computer system 148 not up to speed, i t had a lot of problems. This Building committee would have to be sure to put more "flair into the design. Aside from the problems 't Groton , the other schools were nicely done. Bill Martiros agrees with Paul , he was on the same trip. They don 't seem to be very imaginative, Joe said having all in house disciplines i s a plus. The concept for Marstons Mills school worked, A lot of creativity will be required and that will have to be looked at hard . He does not know if Keyes will be able to do that,. Steve is impressed with their broad base of architectural work. He did some background on the Groton school , it was clearly the contractors problem and the school committee or clerk of the works let -them get away with it. He is familiar with that contractor. We saw innovative use of materials at the Marstons Mills school , Michael Pare took an analytical approach , He first went through the state 1
