Bill Jones checked the references for Chatham and Rockport. <br /> Chatham has not been built yet, It is not even designed. Design <br /> Partnership are very "casual `+ about what information they include <br /> in their literature . Chatham did interview 10-1 architects and <br /> selected Design Partnership., <br /> Paul explained they had to search hard for a second school to <br /> visit. Much of their work is not completed , some is only <br /> feasibility studies . <br /> Peter added they are not forthcoming to the extent of the <br /> completion of the project, They interviewed really well and <br /> understand the programming . They pushed a button with the <br /> Committee' <br /> Joe Polito ,'o i ned the meeting and added his thoughts about the <br /> site visit. He said he was looking for the excitement of the <br /> school , what happened to the beautiful presentation There was a <br /> lot of moisture in the building , The material use, especially on <br /> the walls was not very good . Their choice of muted colors had no <br /> life in i t. The library was very dark , it had little natural <br /> light . The library in Lynn was also dark ,. <br /> SYMMES MAINZ AND M ISE <br /> Joe explained he called someone who worked as construction <br /> manager with Pierce Pierce and Crammer, the firm which merged <br /> with sMMA. He had nothing but praise for SMMA as a total <br /> company , He said they were patient and listened , Members can <br /> rake their own assessment regarding the design of the Nantucket <br /> school . <br /> Of the 6 members of Pierce Pierce and Crammer only 2 care to <br /> sMMA. <br /> Joe added this person had only good words form M r. Por ne l l i , <br /> formerly of PP&C now with sMMA who designed Nantucket High <br /> School . He said problems were dealt with immediately. It had the <br /> usual amount of change orders 1 1/2- 2%* <br /> Peter <br /> -- <br /> Peter spoke with Ed Prennette, who would be Mashpee' s project <br /> manager and asked for 2 examples of their work for the Committee <br /> to visit-. He said Nantucket and a elementary school in <br /> Deerfield. Both were designed by PP & C, they were not SMMA <br /> jobs . <br /> Perkins and will work all over the country. They joint venture <br /> every job they do. The design work is done by the local partner . <br /> Perkins and will brings their knowledge and experience . <br /> MMA by themselves has not doge any high school work. They are in <br /> the process of designing Chelsea high school . Very few of the 70 <br /> employees of SMMA have ever worked on a school , Do we want then <br /> to learn on our school ? How will we know if they make mistakes <br /> at Chelsea, the project is only 6 months ahem! of Mashpee? <br /> Peter asked Mr. Prenette is there were any other buildings the <br /> 2 <br />
