Merry sue made a motion to instruct SMMA to build 2 models -site and building for a cost of $10 ,014 . 40 to be paid from re i mbu rsab 1 es . Paul seconded the motion . A 1 1 members were in favor , ** Next Steps : Ian is concerned about moving into the design development phase with an overages Paul said he is comfortable because he knows what SMMA ' s contract requirement i s , we won ' t have a better handle on the cost until the next phase . Ian said the committee will just get more and more in the hole , It could be additional wasted time trying to get back on track . He is concerned Ed F renette said there may be some things the Committee is not happy with but it may be the only way to proceed i .e . loosing some playing fie1d or even more extreme loosing the auxiliary gym. If you are comfortable with us proceeding , but saying we have to meet our contract requirements, SMMA will say you have to lose x , y or z and that is that. we will have to come down firmly with decisions . Paul said presently the cost is off $1 . 5 million on a 21 million project , a that is not much to be off Ray said you won ' t get better pricing until you qc.Dt better drawings ,, Paul said , in defense of Ian , there are some parts of the project to be looked at i . e . the f ront area - what wi I 1 shape changes do to the cost? Ray said they are working on this project, they are simplifying it . Ian said he i ,---> not comfortable . He wants to see prellh-Onary thought given to strategies in case it remains over budget Ed Frenette agrees . Not yet st4 A needs an interim meeting with Chartwell re : the value management issues . Peter quickly reviewed the items the Committee discussed and/or decided upon before the architects arrived . Peter asked why they don ' t agree with lowering the foundation and adding a berm? Ed said it make every entrance look like a bunker , Dan said there is a problem with onoisture running off the higher elevation of the berm and it will dry out and be d i ff i cu 1 t to maintain . Peter asked SMMA to price it out . The committee will meet next week Aug 9th subcommittee reports . The architects will return in 2 weeks -Aug 16th .
