Elias McQuIad is setting up a meeting with the DFP next week .
Steve Greelish will attend on behalf of the Committee .
Peter asked what the risks are with asking for a variance for
14 , 000 gallons per day"
an sai the r i i .i , and you may get turned down .,
Peter mentioned there may be a possible conflict of i n to rest with
Mark Pare of DeFao wait and Pari ,
SMMA ' s engineers, Mark Pare
wrote the rev i s i ons to Title V and we are now asking him to get a
variance from somethinghe wrote . Will he pursue the Town ' s
i me res f or his repu tat i on j
Paul said the Commit-Lee should ask SIMMA to change their
consultants . mark Fare has his mind set l way only . Personally ,
PaU l f Ound him very frustrating to deal with . Do we have the
authority to ask SMMA to change their consultant?
Tom Fudal a noted if they do have to bU l l d the full plant, Mark
Fare is very good . Is there any war Chartwell ' s conSU l tant can
be used to apply f o r the variance?
Paul thought the Committee has agreed' t,ey would as[L for
physical plant to be sized for 28 , 000 gallons bUt 11t be designed
for 14- 15 , 000 gallons per day. If w1 loose the variance request
they can modify the design up to 28 , 000 gallons .
At this time the architects arrived , The Committee explainrad
they feel there is a conflict of interest with DeFao wait acid
Pare. The Committee feels SMMA has to determine 1 f the 1 r
consultant should be kept on , he is not representing the Towns
or SIAMA ' s interest .
Thi Board of Health wan is the Comm i tte, to i nvesti a t e a
gallon per day tertiary treatment plant.
Bill Hauck suggested building a system for 14, 000 a 1 l ons with
additional piping for an additional 14 , 000 and shut l section
off .
Paul said the cost for a parallel lel system is more . I-11" the plant
COST-Is $800 , 000 he thinks that Sys tem would cost $1 , 1 million ,,
Paul recommends hi.t i 1 d i ng the building for 28 , 000 gallons and ask
the engineers to design for 14 , 000 gallons . The risk is they
will have to re-design Lip to 28 , 000 gallons and there will be an
additional fee . At this point, they are not very far into 'the
design .
Ed Frenette asked the Committee if they are accepting the risk of
re-design if the variance is not approved?
Peter said the DEP w-i l l he meeting %ii th Elias PicQuai d next wee--3k.
The.re will be more answers at that point .
Tori Fuda l a suggested qui nq through the env i ronmtenta l review
prose-ss with 28 , 000 gallon plant- a 14 , 000 plant will be less of
an i?,npkt
2
