MASHPEE CHARTER REVIEW COMMITTEE <br /> PUBLIC HEARING HELD <br /> MONDAY,JUNE 23,2014 <br /> WAQUOIT MEETING ROOM--TOWN HALL <br /> Committee Members Present: Edward Larkin, Theresa Cook, Chuck Gasior, Mary <br /> Waygan, Don Myers, Michael Richardson, Wayne Taylor, Richard Halpern, and Scott <br /> McGee (arrived 6:33 p.m.). <br /> Audience: Deb Dami—Town Clerk <br /> Andrew McKelvey-Resident <br /> Geoff Spillane-Mashpee Enterprise <br /> Ed Larkin, Chairman of the Charter Review Committee, called the meeting to order at <br /> 6:34 p.m. <br /> Public Hearin <br /> Ed Larkin read aloud the published Notice of this Public Hearing. A copy of the Notice <br /> is attached to the printed set of these minutes. <br /> Motion: Michael Richardson motioned to open the Public Hearing. Chuck Gasior <br /> seconded the motion. <br /> VOTE: 8-Yes. <br /> Mary Waygan—yes Edward Larkin—yes <br /> Wayne Taylor-yes Theresa Cook-yes <br /> Michael Richardson—yes Chuck Gasior—yes <br /> Richard Halpern-yes Don Myers—yes <br /> Comments from the Audience <br /> Resident Andrew McKelvey addressed the Committee and stated he opposed <br /> wholeheartedly to appointed Town Clerk versus elected; he said it takes away right of <br /> citizens to vote;people should have voice who is in that position; if individual not <br /> serving then will be voted out; Clerk works for him,the voter; and elections are critical. <br /> Chairman Ed Larkin thanked Mr. McKelvey for his comments. <br /> No fiuther comments were offered from the audience. <br />
