** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their approval
and payment $5 , 514 . 58 for SMMA for additional services performed
overseeing structural steel repairs . Joe seconded the motion.
Tom Wren will check to see if Stone is on notice (has received a letter)
that the town will seek to collect any damages related to the
delays/repairs .
All members were in favor 6--0.
Joel asked if this means it is possible they will not get paid the $5 , 500?
There is that possibility. Tom will call Peter Dinizio , explain the
situation to him and ask him to explain it to the Selectmen.
** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for approval and
payment the bill for Cape Cod flying services . Joe seconded the
motion.
This is for overhead flight to video the site and play on cable TV.
*
All members were in favor 6-0 . **
Tom Wren said when the new CPM is complete in mid December it will take a
lot of time to review and both Chartwell and SMMA have already reviewed it
twice. He asked that the Committee consider it a claim under their
optional services.
Paul said both Chartwell and SMMA must provide proof to the Committee of
the extra time spent which can then be sent to town council and eventually
be recovered from Stone. He will not pay it unless he is sure the town can
collect it from Stone. If Stone created a problem that effected
Chartwell ' s terms and conditions of their contract with the town, provide
the Committee with proof.
Carpet problems at the Middle School : Paul explained it is not a dust
issue , it is a problem with humidity causing mold. There have been several
pipe and roof leaks and the carpets were not treated correctly after that
so the bottom of those carpets are now rotted. The school department has
decided to replace it with tile , but the consultant says the bacteria
problem is the same with carpet or tile .
Paul went to his son' s elementary school and asked some teachers which they
would choose for a classroom, carpet or tile and they all prefer carpet,
for sound, atmosphere , it is much preferred.
OFF SITE IMPROVEMENTS
The town is getting nowhere with the off site road improvements There is
a complete impasse for phase 2 . MA Highway Department will not do a review
of the plans until they receive an application. Greg Taylor says he filed
that application but the State says they don' t have it. Greg was given the
assurance the town would receive the money but they need the application.
Paul asked Bob Whritenour to have Greg send another application.
Janice Mills explained the School Committee has awarded a contract to a
Mashpee company for grounds maintenance for next year but she is asking
this Committee to encumber the amount which was set aside in the budget for
grounds equipment for 1 year to see how this works .
Paul thinks it is a good move to contract out the work, but the Committee
will set aside those funds .
7
