Professional Fees (continued) Page 11
Lengthy discussion followed. it was informed that $200 , 000 is
the amount of the "windfall profits" to date. Suggestions were
made that it could be used to offset the tax rate. Paul informed
that we have no legal limit over the $28 . 7 Million to spend on
this project.
9 . Other Matters Arisin
Concerning the Dual Fuel status , Steve informed that he needs
copies , of the overall utilities plan and copies of the documents
issued for the dual fuel tank in order to meet with the Cape Cod
Commission. Joel said he will supply this data to Steve.
Concerning the Superintendent ' s Office, Paul informed there is no
progress ; he explained that there is such a problem getting the
sub-contractor to complete his work on time; we are reluctant to
ask him to do any extra work. We are looking at some of the
contractors at the Falmouth Hospital . Discussion followed.
Concerning the Football Scoreboard, John informed that by the
next meeting, he will have three prices from companies he is
working with. Discussion followed. John said there are portable
scoreboards available that use batteries . . . electricity is not
necessary. Paul asked John to look into these and coordinate his
findings with Manny. Janice feels this is a reasonable request
to give us an idea of what they can be used for . All agreed.
Lengthy discussion was introduced about correcting the bathroom
walls and floor area. Paul informed that the workers know
there is a problem but have not come back to us with suggestions .
Stucco and tile were discussed. Steve said a portion of the
floor area has sharp edges that present a safety hazard; it is a
disaster area. Paul pointed out that the walls and part of the
floor area probably can be smoothed down with a grindstone and
buffed and patched to improve conditions as was done in some of
the corridors . Jimmy verified. Discussion followed concerning
the appearance of the exterior masonry work. Joel explained it
needs to be washed down . . . none of these areas have been
punch-listed out. Concerning the color and blotchy appearance of
the semi-transparent stain on the . clapboards ,' Paul explained
the original product specified is no longer made; this is a
substitute. It was informed the blotchy appearance is due to an
application problem caused by the painter. Suggestion was made
that the architect investigate this issue.
Janice introduced discussion regarding stairway railings ; she
explained her concern over a possible safety hazard at the
stairway located at the end of the corridor opposite the Library
corridor. She pointed out that an additional railing exists at
the stairway in the Library corridor, so there is no cause
for concern. Joel explained the reason for- the additional
railing- in that particular area. Tom recommended that one more
railing be installed to eliminate the concern noted by Janice.
