Site Work: Joel is putting the extra field work proposal in the
Central Register by the end of this month and there are then 3
weeks to bid on it.
Paul suggested cutting that to two weeks.
Joel is working with David Doneski ( town counsel ) on contract
documents .
Phase II roadwork: Tom tried to reach Greg Taylor today to find
out where we stand with the takings which are necessary to
complete the work.
Peter asked if that isn' t beyond the purview of this Committee?
Paul said it is because they are using Chapter 90 funds to do the
work but the Committee has an agreement with the Cape Cod
Commission that the work will get resolved. He does not want this
to get tabled and then the funding will be taken off the list .
Greg Taylor is supposed to be handling it.
Tom will call Bob Whritenour tomorrow to set up a meeting with
Bob and Greg.
Furniture and Equipment : Paul was asked to sign the contracts on
behalf of the Committee for the furniture and it then goes to the
Selectmen for signature .
Tom spoke with Mike Kirwin, the tenders are going out this week.
There is a pre bid meeting here on May 22nd at 3 :00 . Someone from
the technology sub committee should attend.
Sewage Treatment Plant operator proposals : Steve explained he was
concerned that the second bidder be given a fair review. After
speaking with them, he concurs with the recommendation of Weston
and Sampson.
* Steve made a motion that the Committee recommend to the
Selectmen that they contract with Weston and Sampson for
the operations and maintenance contract for the sewage
treatment plant at the high school because they were the
highly advantageous bidder. The other bidder, Mowles
Environment, was advantageous . Merry Sue seconded the
motion.
Paul explained the Committee had agreed to carry this cost for
the first year in our budget because we had no idea what the cost
would be for the first year. It will probably not be
reimbursable.
** All members were in favor**
Back Charges : Paul explained the issue has been raised whether we
have ever notified Stone of any of these back chargeable items .
Pat Costello' s ( town counsel) opinion says that when final
payment is made to the contractor, the owner may retain an amount
that is reasonable .
Tom will prepare details of the charges , give them to Paul for
review and then to town counsel , who will advise the Committee on
4
