of Stone ' s future involvement be left open for discussion with the
bonding company. Joe seconded the motion.
Paul suggested the motion just declare them in default.
Steve preferred to leave in Stone ' s future involvement.
** All members were in favor 7-0 **
The Committee will meet with the Selectmen at 6 : 00 tonight to discuss this
and convey their recommendation.
CHANGE ORDERS
Joel explained Griffin Electric/Stone wants $22 , 000 to add the light
sensors.
How far apart are we?
Joel explained before any designs were developed, they thought it would be
no additional costs. Once the modifications were delineated and sent to
Stone , because of the timing of the issuance, the credits back are not
fully realized.
Steve asked what the real price differential is?
Paul said there will be about 98 units , at a price of about $100 each plus
labor. The controllers that will not be used are not cheap. They are
probably over charging by about $20 ,000 .
Steve has a real problem with the $22 , 000 .
** The Committee agreed they would like to have the sensors but the
additional cost is excessive . **
Joel presented a change order for the Committee ' s approval . It includes 4
items:
- delete primary feeder cabling. Com Electric agreed to provide it but
asked the duct bank be concrete encased. $6 , 000 credit .
- Plumbing/electrical costs for installation of ice maker, pass through
refrigerator. Previous costs were appliances only. $2 , 900 add.
- Electrical boxes installation was never assigned.
- Credit for exterior steel studs , contractor used G60 instead of G90
because they are more readily available .
** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for their approval
Change Order for $5 , 910 . for the 4 items discussed. Merry Sue
seconded the motion. All members were in favor. 7-0**
Merry Sue asked how this vote, to declare Stone in default, effects those
cost proposals still in limbo?
Joel said it is a good question that they will have to review, especially
any on the critical path.
Jim said for those items that do not impact the schedule, the Committee can
choose to bid them. It may be an additional cost for SMMA to bid it but
you may end up saving more . (Duel fuel , extra fields )
Paul explained that SMMA has forwarded a fee for design changes related to
technology items, for $11 , 290 .
These are changes are to be made to the general construction contract as a
5
