MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUHIDING COMMITTEE <br /> THURSDAY,MAY 14, 1998 <br /> HIGH SCHOOL <br /> Present: Merry Sue Ahlgren,Paul Griffin, Janice Mills,Bill Martiros <br /> Also present: Jim Byrne,Ian Aitchison <br /> Meeting convened at 4:08 p.m. <br /> MINUTES <br /> Merry Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of March 18, 1998. Janice <br /> seconded the motion. All members were in favor 4-0** <br /> BID PACKAGE <br /> Joel Seeley opened the two bid packages, for the handicap and masonry/caulking work on April <br /> 23`a <br /> Handicap work: Paul explained the history of the process, for the benefit of the press who was <br /> present. The plans for this work were sent to the architectural review board for their approval. <br /> The work was then put out to bid. Some of the violations were items the architectural board had <br /> identified and the Committee knew that Stone did in error, we took them in the settlement. <br /> When the architectural review board reviewed the site, for a sign off on the project,they issued a <br /> report with new violations. This is the same board that approved the drawings and have:now <br /> changed their mind. <br /> With any job over$10,000, it had to be designed and put out to bid. On March 1 Sty this <br /> Committee voted to put the job out to bid. It had to be put in the Central Registered. Today,the <br /> Committee is ready to vote on those bids. <br /> Jim Byrne spoke with Bob Whritenour today. If the Committee approves these 2 bids, the <br /> Selectmen will put it on their agenda for Monday and the work will be scheduled for the minute <br /> school gets out. <br /> Paul said the architectural review board was fully award this was in the central register. It was <br /> never the Committee's intention to ignore these issues. <br /> The reporter from the Cape Cod Times said the architectural review board said they never heard <br /> back from the town about this. <br /> Paul said he knows there were discussions during the design with Brian Lawlor of SMMA to <br /> make sure they met the intent of the review board. They follow the central register. <br /> Jim said if the Committee approves the packages tonight, he will ask John Williams to write a <br /> letter to the board telling them of the approval because the letter was written to him. <br /> Paul explained that the town told them we would comply. Nothing happens overnight with a <br /> municipal project. <br /> 1 <br />
