Mashpee Middle School <br /> School Council <br /> Minutes — a ru. 16, 2012 <br /> Attendance: Sheila Arnold, Patricia I ran , Kim l aigne ult, Pauline Reilly, Mona <br /> Lisa Valentino, Lauar Franks <br /> Absent—Kevin Frye <br /> The meeting convened at 2;2 pm. <br /> Committee unanimously approved minutes of the January 19, 2012 Meeting. <br /> Communications: <br /> Old Business <br /> The school council reviewed the draft student dress policy compiled by the Mashpce <br /> Administrative Team. Concerns regarding the new dress code include—eliminate Dress <br /> for Success as part of the title, as it implies voluntary.. Members reviewed all wording, <br /> and feel more details could be included, but were comfortable with the policy as written. <br /> The members voted unanimously to present this version to the school committee on <br /> March 7, 2012. <br /> The council also reviewed the current handbook, and we will be removing any reference <br /> to In School Suspension and Saturday school as these are not options for the 2012-2013 <br /> school year. Neither ofthese two items had been in use for years in the Mashpee Public <br /> Schools. <br /> The other item in the handbook that will be reviewed with he the electronics policy. Mrs. <br /> Day and Mrs. Arnold will be attending a conference in April where a BYOD (Bring Your <br /> Own Device)will be shard. The information will then he brought hack to the School <br /> Council for their review. <br /> New Business <br /> The Council was informed ofthe pfincipal's intent to apply for a grant for a summer <br /> Math arra Science Program for Grade 7 and 8 students. The Bilezikian Family <br /> Foundation has seat a request for applicants for a$10,000 summer school grant. The <br /> grant will be developed and written by Mrs. Arnold, and then she will inform the school <br /> committee of the intent to appy for the grant. The Grant 1s due March 15, 2012. <br /> Other: <br /> Thank you to the Hearth and Kettle for their Dining for a Cause Fundraiser for the DC <br /> Travelers. <br /> March math Madness bight will be held March 22, 2012. The final Parent Workshop on <br /> Listening Skills will be held February 2 , 2012. <br /> Meeting was adjourned at 3.12 pm <br />
