Mashpee Middle School <br /> School Council <br /> Minutes — 11 ay 17, 2012 <br /> Attendance: Sheila Arnold, Patricia Morano, lira Daigneault, Pauline Reilly <br /> Absent—Kevin Frye, Mona Lisa Valentino <br /> The meeting convened at 2:1 Spm. <br /> Com mittee unanimously approved minutes of the March 2 ,2012 Meeting. <br /> Communications: <br /> Summer Grant$10,000 Award <br /> Old Business The student handbooks were approved by the School Committee with the <br /> new updates on the dress code and use of electronics in the school. The Council also <br /> heard about the Blue Ribbon Conference in Reading Massachusetts, as well as final <br /> budget updates as noted at Torn Meeting. <br /> New Business <br /> We reviewed the Step-Up light Program for May 21, which includes a special gift for <br /> each sixth grader from the graduating class of MHS Seniors provided string backpacks <br /> for each student with a best wishes note. Each backpack will contain all necessary <br /> information for parents to help with the transition to the Middle School next year. <br /> A review of the rational Junior Honor Society qualifications and selection process was <br /> reviewed. This year's induction will include 26 7 h graders. The Council also looked at <br /> the school improvement plan for next year and talked about continued focus on Math and <br /> EEA. <br /> Course offerings to students in grade seven and eight were reviewed, as well as the <br /> summer requirements of reading two boobs for ELA, completing a geography packet for <br /> Social Studies and time spend on IXL over the summer for Math. <br /> Other: <br /> The Council would lire to look at Community Service as being some type of requirement <br /> at the fiddle School. <br /> Meeting was adjourned at 3:10 pm je <br /> f� <br />
