Agenda topic 3]Ramp Repair tTpdate
Discussion: Don emailed that Al Turner had nothing new to report on the ramp but he is continuing to
pursue the issue at the State level.
Conclusions: The ramp still needs repair.
[Agenda.,opic 4]13 a646g Accident Involving 12
Year did
Discussion: Barbara invited Al Turner to our meeting by email, but he did not respond. We had hoped to
hear his thoughts and plans regarding the accident, The committee learned in the CCT and Enterprise
newspapers that a 12 year old boy fell off a tube and was run over by another boat following too closely.
We understand the accident happened in Wakeby lake and the child was taken to the boat ramp before
being picked up by medical personnel. Several residents came to the Selectmen's meeting asking for more
harbormaster patrols. The Town manager promised more policing on the lake, and indeed, on the
weekend of July 14 and 15 three boats were patrolling all day. It was a very quiet weekend on the lake.
Since then, coverage has been more sporadic, but slightly increased from prior to the accident. One day
this week,a jet ski was sent off the lake at 7:10 PM by the Harbormaster but the past 2 nights, jet skis have
been out past 7PM. Earlier this summer a swan was run over by a bass boat and had to be euthanized.
Conclusions: Increased patrols helped quiet down the boat traffic on the lake.
rAgencla t©pic 5] Committee Reorgahii atton
Discussion: All members have been sworn in by the Town Clerk. Committee reorganization was
postponed due to the absence of two members.
Conclusions: Reorganization has been postponed until August.
(Agendatopic 6 }Dead StripeclBass
Discussion: Two members reported seeing 2 large dead striped bass, a salt water fish, along the shore of
the lake. Barbara will notify Natural Resources.
Conclusions: Barbara will notify Natural Resources about the dead bass.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:52 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara B. Nichols
