Myers
3oye M. Mason
Subject: Waste Disposal
Don,
Before the hoard of Selectmen determine the "people havespoken" on the subject of solid
waste, it might be advisable to assure yourselves the people are fully informed on probable
future actions. Economics of sticker price increases, 'potential required State or Mashpee
enforcement actions for prohibited items, fairness issues, etc. While viewing transfer station
statistics it is possible to see a minor or even negative growth in solid waste totals, however
there is a roughly 18% growth in total residential solid waste from 2003 to 2008 that should
elicit concern about prohibited iters controls. The Ton should be acting now to minimize
future financial and environmental enforcement related problems instead of waiting to react
when they occur.
w
I hope you will share this email with the Board.
The state web sitsg
p a listed below has historical recycling data for all Commonwealth towns
and may be of interest to you and the:other Selectmen
t%P-//WWW,Ma .:.g , pey-ci.ep.ririsatret .p
Thanks for any consideration your may give to nay. om ent .
Ed Baker
5/18/2009
